Somewhere in recent pages I argued exactly the same. The response on here was luke-warm. It does appear to make sense since the increase of 1PVR on the 222 (which would probably become the N222 if it followed the routing via Central) covers much of the capacity issue over the Hounslow - Heathrow section and offers a direct 24/7 link between Uxbridge, Cowley, Yiewsley, West Drayton and the airport. The 222 passes through areas where many airport and airline staff live.

Both routes can be kicked out easily, just send the H22 back to Richmond, (either sharing a stand with the H37 or using the Queen's Road stand), along with a small frequency increase to the 267, and extend the 481 to Brentford County Court or Osterley Tesco as you have said. The H22 replaced the 110 over the Twickenham - WMH section and only after the initial consultation drew howls of protest about the loss of a direct link between Twickenham and the hospital itself. The 267 stops outside but access to the hospital requires crossing a busy road and a short but inconvenient walk up the approach road which has no continuous footpath and multiple access ways to negotiate. The H22 therefore meets the wishes of those who used to board the 110. Not large numbers but rather more than use the 481. I have argued before as to whether there is any value in continuing the 481 given its very low patronage. The responses I had here mentioned that it was considered for a school-only 600-series route but that it is somehow cheaper to run as an all-day public route. I don't entirely believe that if only because much more fuel is consumed than would be the case if it were confined to a couple of school runs. There is very little traffic indeed on the 481 which cannot be absorbed nor covered by other routes aside from the school trips. The 481 ticks a couple of "socially necessary" boxes though. Its withdrawal would leave some households in the Teddington area more than 400m walk from a bus stop. Also the direct links to one of the area's main hospitals score it a few Brownie Points. The vehicle resources are already there if the school services is still being provided, so the marginal extra costs are drivers' salary, fuel and a nominal amount for wear and tear to the vehicles.

There is very little traffic indeed on the 481 which cannot be absorbed nor covered by other routes aside from the school trips. I’ve done the walk from Twickenham Road to the hospital entrance with an elderly relative many times. It’s not too bad. People always want a direct link door to door and while that is not an unreasonable request in relation to hospital access, it makes very little sense when the H22 carries between 0-2 passengers into the hospital grounds on each trip. The resource could be much better used in other ways, particularly given the constant temporary frequency reductions on the 267 and its general unreliability. The 481 has lots of untapped potential for passenger growth but terminating within the hospital grounds means it carries fresh air for the last few stops when it could actually be providing a useful link to Busch Corner and beyond, covering for the gaps in the 267 service.

Change to route 339 - 18 November 2023 From Saturday 18 November route 339 will be rerouted in the Fish Island area of East London to serve new residential and commercial areas currently remote from the bus network.
Route 339 will continue to run between Leytonstone and Shadwell but will be rerouted in both directions between Marshgate Lane after the Bobby Moore Primary Academy bus stops and Wick Lane via Bassett Lane, Monier Bridge and Monier Road. Route 339 will no longer serve bus stops D and F on White Post Lane, stop C on Rothbury Road or stops E and OH on Wick Lane. New bus stops will be in place along Monier Road as well as on the eastern side of Monier Bridge.
Route 339 will continue to run every 15 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 20 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays using electric single deck buses.
---------------------------
Delayed by two years while they built a new road bridge in the Olympic Park, and delayed by another two years while they built an access road.

It's a shame they are not bothering with a map

It’s a five minute walk, hardly a trek. I’ve done it hundreds of times. It's inconvenient when dragging heavy bags. That said all attempts over many years to make a Victoria (rail / bus / tube) Station - Coach Station service work have failed. It once formed a part of the Red Arrow network as the 511. Unless you have an absurdly high frequency on such a short route, chances are most prospective passengers will walk if they don't see the bus there. The issue being that high frequency being most likely incompatible with actual passenger demand.

One to take to the ideas thread but I wonder if a partial merger of the rerouted 211 and inner 436 might work, say Fulham Broadway to Peckham via Battersea Power Station, with the 11 continuing to Hammersmith and other services tweaked to pick up the slack beyond Peckham. I think that's a good call, the 11 could be extended back to Hammersmith and the 436 maybe Fulham Broadway to New Cross and the 36 extended back to Lewisham if the Queens Park section is replaced by something else? I think having two routes (211 and 436) terminate in the vicinity of the Power Station limits the potential of the bus network, the Sloane Square to Victoria via Power Station link would be best operated by a through route giving new journey opportunities from the length of Nine Elms Lane to Chelsea. Links from RBKC and H&F to the Nine Elms area are really poor, the Northern Line is ok if you are coming from Central London, not inner west London. I’d caution against extending the 11 to Hammersmith to replace the 211 between Fulham Broadway and Hammersmith as the link from H&F to Chelsea & Westminster Hospital on the 211 is really important. Extend the 211 to Vauxhall and restore the 436 to Victoria, if stand space is available.

According to this month's LOTS publication the 211 will be rerouted to Battersea Power Station from Saturday November 18th, the 77 thus on the same day rerouted via Station Approach for Waterloo Station.

Howls of protest is typical from some of the folks in my borough but the routes are very lightly used in to the hospital itself. You'll find the stops out on Twickenham Road are far busier. Passengers using links to the hospital from areas served by the 267 and H28 have had to walk in the whole time, along with E8 users who were told by TFL when it was extended they should just walk from Busch Corner!

I would be more worried about the loss of the direct link to Victoria from the Fulham Road corridor and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, than between Fulham Palace Road/Lillie Road/Dawes Road and Victoria. There is certainly a need for a link from Fulham and Chelsea to Battersea Power Station, which is a pain to get to from the north side of the Thames, west of Sloane Square. Ideally I’d like the 211 to continue to Vauxhall so that the whole of the Nine Elms Lane corridor can benefit.

The problem with continuing the 211 to Vauxhall is the corridor would be overbussed with the 156, 344 & 436 all running alongside. The 156 & 344 are stalwarts of that corridor and shouldn't be moved under any circumstance so unless the 436 disappears from there, the Power Station is the most the 211 could go to. Nine Elms corridor has bits of industry along there that might use buses but the souless pricey new builds along there are anything but directed at regulars who might take the bus - not the corridor it once was when the 44, 156 & 344 would all load well along here. I'm still disappointed that the bus gate wasn't put in at the end of Thessaly Road for the proposed P5 extension the Power Station as that could of potentially introduced a useful link from the south both for the Power Station, that stations and for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home
