Changes to buses from Saturday 9 December The following changes will take place from Saturday 9 December. Route 34 will have a new timetable from this date. Buses will be revised to run every 10 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 12 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays. Also, from this date route 34 will now set down passengers at bus stop X on Selborne Road instead of inside Walthamstow Central Bus Station. No change to the pick-up stop towards Barnet. The temporary timetable on route 187 will be removed with the frequency of the service restored to run every 15 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 20 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays. The temporary timetable on 24 hour route 220 will be removed with the frequency of the service restored to run every 6-7 minutes during the AM & PM peak on Monday to Fridays, every 8 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Fridays, every 7-8 minutes during the daytime on Saturdays, every 10 minutes during the daytime on Sundays and every 12 minutes during the evening on all days. Route 220 will continue to run every 30 minutes throughout the night on all nights of the week. The temporary timetable on route 260 will be removed with the frequency of the service restored to run every 12 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 15 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays. The temporary timetable on route 266 will be removed with the frequency of the service restored to run every 8 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays, every 10 minutes during the daytime on Sundays and every 12 minutes during the evening on all days. The temporary timetable on 24 hour route 297 will be removed with the frequency of the service restored to run every 12 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 15 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays. Route 297 will continue to run every 30 minutes throughout the night on all nights of the week. The new times for all the above routes will be available in our journey planner tool at www.tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey34 frequency reduction to coincide with introduction of route SL1, which will probably have its own entry on the TfL bus service change page in due course. It is similar. Both were done the same time, well over a month ago, not sure why TfL has not uploaded them at the same time. Makes laugh the saying the 34 would be revised to run every 10 minutes, instead of being reduced. When there is a frequency change in their favour, it would be marked as the frequency has been increased.

On a related note, I noticed some works at St James Street which appeared to look like they were removing the island and railings in the middle to create capacity for a couple extra bus stands specifically for the 34. Will check back to see if indeed that is the case. Does make sense as there was no real capacity in the first place.

Usually it tends to be the opposite

Westerham Hill closure - 16 December 2023 Westerham Hill will be closed in both directions from Saturday 16 December until Saturday 30 December which will impact the routing and timetable of the 246.
Route 246 will be diverted in both directions between Biggin Hill, Lebanon Gardens and Westerham Green. Buses will instead run via Lebanon Gardens, Stock Hill, Sunningvale Avenue, Polesteeple Hill, Ricketts Hill Road, Church Hill, Ship Hill, Tatsfield Approach Road, Clarks Lane, Croydon Road and Market Square. All bus stops along the diversionary route will be served.
The timetable for route 246 will be completely changed during these works with the frequency widened by 7-8 minutes to better schedule the amount of buses using the section of route between Sunningvale Avenue and Ship Hill to avoid conflicts with other buses over tight roads.

To confirm that works at St James Street was to increase stand space from 4 to 5, ready for 34 to stand from Saturday.
They probably could have done more and increase to 6. If memory serves me, it had 6 capacity when it first opened.

It’s going to be chaos. The whole ‘avoiding conflict with other buses’ will go out of the window if we get delayed on the southern part of the diversion. It feels like there’s a rose-tinted view that lorries aren’t going to use the official diversion via Polhill when the world and his wife knows that they’ll plug it all in to their sat nav and find that Tatsfield is a quicker way On the plus side, our duties have changed for the two weeks and I’m finishing a lot earlier that I otherwise would! Unless, of course, I get stuck on the diversion……
