Changes to bus stop arrangements in Croydon Town Centre 13 January 2024: From Saturday 13 January there will be changes to the stops served by buses in Croydon Town Centre with some minor routeing changes to allow buses to reach the new stops and better serve the new road layouts in the area. The stopping arrangement changes are as follows: Routes 60 towards Streatham and 109/N109 towards Brixton will serve bus stop KL on St. George's Walk instead of stop KC on Park Lane. Routes 119 towards Bromley, 312 towards Norwood Junction and 433 & 466 towards Addington Village will serve bus stop KM on St. George's Walk instead of stop KC on Park Lane. Routes 166 towards West Croydon, 407 towards Sutton and 645 towards Waddon will serve bus stop KK on St. George's Walk instead of stop KD on Park Lane. Routes 455 towards Wallington, 468 towards Elephant & Castle, N68 towards Tottenham Court Road and N250 towards Brixton will serve bus stop KD instead of KC on Park Lane. Route 312 towards South Croydon will serve bus stop KH instead of KJ on Park Street. There will be no changes to timetables on any of the above routes. Times from the revised stops will be available soon for each route in our journey planner tool www.tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journeyChanges to buses from Saturday 13 January 2024: The following timetable changes will take place from Saturday 13 January. A temporary timetable will be introduced on route 1 which will widen the frequency of the service to a bus every 9-10 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 13 minutes during the evenings and all day on Sundays. This temporary timetable will give buses more time to complete journeys during the closure of Eversholt Street in the Euston area. Route 603 will have a new timetable on schooldays with minor changes to times. Route 603 will be operated by Metroline from this date. The new times for the above routes will be available in our journey planner tool at www.tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journeyThe fact they continue to faff with the stops in Croydon shows how silly closing the bottom of High Street was - the road layout should revert back to how it was including the relevant stops and stands

They have literally replaced what they removed with both 289 and 455 serving Waddon Marsh tram stop in both directions. Not sure if it’s been mentioned as I haven’t seen any news of TFL rerouting both routes back around there

The tiles have 289 and 455 on both of them, unless it’s an error. However recently they’ve put a bag over it saying “bus stop not in use”

From Saturday 20th January...
Route 228 will have a new timetable from this date. Buses will be revised to run every 30 minutes from first to last bus on all days of the week. Route 228 will be operated by Metroline from this date.
That's down from every 24 minutes weekdays and Saturdays. Half-hourly is a depressingly poor frequency for an inner London bus.
I get that passing the HS2 works at Old Oak Common must be taxing on the timetable. But this isn't the usual 'temporary timetable', this is permanent.

I feel this is a route of two halves that don’t fit together well. The Maida Hill to Shepherds Bush section seems to load well and would appear to be able to support a higher frequency. The reliability of the route is generally appalling and it regularly appears at the bottom of the route performance league tables. The Central Middlesex Hospital to Shepherds Bush section is generally lightly loaded. It provides an important socially necessary service to Old Oak Common Lane including a large and relatively new housing development near the junction with Victoria Road. It also provides the only westbound bus service along South Africa Road but in practice most residents of the White City Estate prefer the use the 283 on the way home from Shepherds Bush as it is more frequent and stops outside Shepherds Bush Market. To be honest it would probably be more popular if it ran direct via Uxbridge Road instead of via White City.

Considering the 228 once ran 5bph. It's hard to imagine it's now going to be every half hourly! 😨

At a time the mayor who promised investment into our services, still won't be held accountable it's them who are one of the main causes.

A 1/2 hourly service is not a turn up and go service, people will look at the timetable and turn up according to that. If the route is unreliable and doesn't run to the published timetable, then it will lose even more passengers. I'd like to know what plans TfL and the Operator have to ensure it runs to the published timetable so people can at least rely on when the buses are expected to come.

It's probably down to TfL basing it on total usage across the whole route rather than taking into account that the Maida Hill end of the route gets a lot more usage than the Central Mid end of the route.

This route will be killed off - running half hourly services in Inner London is almost pointless because the poor frequency in areas with options is counter productive. People were complaining about every 30 minutes for the 497 in Outer London after all so compare that to a route trundling through Hammersmith & Fulham & Kensington & Chelsea

Same for the multiple options between Shepherds Bush-East Acton and passengers who would wait for a 228 or 260 to get to Park Royal

I think ideally almost every TFL route should be at least every 20 minutes, other than a handful of more rural routes on the edge of London.

Considering the 228 once ran 5bph. It's hard to imagine it's now going to be every half hourly! 😨 I wonder what route has had the highest cut to its frequency within the last 2 decades? I would guess it’s likely to be the 209. The 112 could be a contender for the opposite, going from 3bph until 2008 to 8pbh in peaks today.
