Looks reasonable to me : Courtwood Lane did look over bussed to me, so the 353 going there looks a good idea. The only concern I'd have is the general reduction in frequency in Arnhem Drive, which could be helped by extending the 314 via the current T31 to Homestead Way.

I wonder if anyone can tell me this:
Does anyone know if a route test involving a double decker has already been carried out along the southern section of Courtwood Lane where the T31 currently terminates and if so, what was the specific type of double decker used?

There would still be 7bph along arnhem drive so that should be sufficient to cope.

Looks like Arriva will lose another route, this time because of the T31 planning to be discontinued. i hope that doesn't happen. Im more pleased about the 359, I think Metrobus (or whoever was to operate it) would have to order in new buses for the 359

Arriva bus drivers may be tran to other operator or different garages! But you know TfL can do changes!
Same as metrobus gain more bus drivers for route 320 extended to Catford replace small section of route 208 (stagecoach losing bus drivers).

If Matrobus doesn't retain the 353, it would nice to see Arriva win it.

My guess for new vehicle requirements is as follows: +2 PVR on the 130 (for frequency increase 15-12 mins) +3 PVR on the 64 (for frequency increase 8-7/8 mins, and extension to Vulcan Way) +1 PVR on the 353 (for extension to Forestdale) +2 PVR on the 359 (for upgrade to full service) -3 PVR on the T32 (withdrawl) -9 PVR on the T31 No change on the 464 No change on the T33 (aside of lots of new blinds! )

As a result of boredom this morning I thought I'd map the winners and losers in these changes, based on if all the changes listed were implemented. Please note all my calculates are pretty much back of the envelope so may not be 100% accurate, and I've rounded the current 359 down to 1.5bph though this obviously isn't the case. As expected, New Addington residents have taken to social networking sites to complain to local councillors about the changes. The most common complaints being about an error on the map shows the wrong routing for the proposed 64 changes. Instead the 64 will go via the T31 route until St Edwards church/Centtal Parade and instead of going through Arnhem Drive, it will serve a section of Overbury Crescent which currently doesn't have a bus route (and is understandable as to why as it's a small road which sees cars and vans struggle due to parked vehicles). The other most complained thing is the removal of a direct bus from Vulcan Way and King Henry's Drive/Goldcrest Way via Kestrel Way.

I see from doing a google search that the battle lines are already drawn over the 359 going along Purley Downs Road. Naughty TfL have been out measuring up for potential stop positions which set the gossip and outrage machine whirring into action. Apparently having a bus service is bad for the environment - go figure that one! Tory councillors blog

Either way I was I'm new Addington yday about 430 and all u saw was lightly used T31s and empty T32s plus the 130 in was on was lightly used and the 64s arriving and departing near empty. The T routes are so under used I feel they cannot be justified anymore.
I'm surprised people are not more excited about having the 64 serving most of new Addington restoring a link to croydon directly.

I would imagine people *are* pleased to see the 64 serving more of New Addington : generally, people who like bus changes keep it to themselves, where those who don't shout it from the rooftops and write to all and sundry.

The T32 is certainly underused but not the 64, 130 or T31 - on numerous occasions, I've seen them quite busy especially the 64.
