710 unit at Derby under construction I'm noticing an absence of wheels. Are these Maglev like trains in China? I will miss the loud whine of a 317 traction motor as it pulls away from Bruce Grove As for GOBLIN they are taking their time to put these wires up...

While using the Goblin and c2c the other day I did realise that wires have been placed along the previously unelectrified stretch of track between the junction west of Barking and all along platform 1. The wires weren't present when the line had initially reopened.

The wires weren't present when the line had initially reopened. Oh yes they were. Only two pieces of wiring work were done in the initial blockade. The platform and access track at Barking and a short stretch at Gospel Oak. In each case it ties into existing wiring.

I wasn't paying much attention and must have not noticed them when the line reopened.

Update : Both tracks Upper Holloway - Crouch Hill are now wired. Ta for the update. Almost doesn't look real after all the months of delays. Now we await the metal thieves to come along and rip it all down before it's energised.

710 simulator is installed at willesden first use tomorrow. That seems to be on schedule then if my vague memories of the rolling stock contract are correct.

Word is the 710's are delayed not sure on timescales but month(s) were mentioned Oh oh! Another little problem for Arriva and TfL to manage. Slightly surprised by this but only slightly. Still it potentially takes a little bit of pressure off Network Rail if trains aren't sitting in sidings waiting for wires to be switched on and tested.
