Should send the 179 back to Barking, still a pretty short route. All based on stand space though. Even after the London Road stand opposite Asda will be claimed for housing, there are still 9 stand spaces dotted around James Street (near the car park) and along London Road from the Abbey to the Shell roundabout. So stand space isn't an issue.

Ilford Lane is absolutely bonkers! Its really bad at the Ilford end near the roundabout! Cars are ruthless for trying pull out and turn from the side roads. I literally try and avoid passing through that street for that very reason. Pre-2010 it was somewhat bearable to go through there. But after 2010 forget it. Out of curiosity what happened in 2010? As an aside I had the pleasure of doing all the roundabouts in ilford / barking during my driving test (including doing on to the north circular) which mercifully I passed. The busy-ness of ilford lane (plus the narrowness) is probably one reason why barking test centre has such a low passing rate!

So pre-2010 even though Ilford Lane was notoriously known for being a sluggish road to pass through it was somewhat bearable because you could at least overtake the bus if it pulled into a bus stop. Whereas from 2010 onwards when Skanska (the contractors remodelling the pavements and road for the ELT buses) finished their works it made it even worse.

I travelled though Upper Holloway earlier and I noticed the platform announcements have reverted back to the woman who used to do them in Silverlink days (I forgot her name) it seems Emma may not be doing them anymore?

Despite the ASLEF strike action today, 30min service operating only Barking-Barking Riverside today I noticed that, I guess it was just one train. The Upminster to Romford route was also running.

With the RMT strike action, no service to Barking Riverside today, Gospel Oak trains running from platform 1 at Barking again.

With the RMT strike action, no service to Barking Riverside today, Gospel Oak trains running from platform 1 at Barking again. Other way around this time services running Barking and Barking Riverside no service on the rest of the line.

I wonder what will happen to platform 1 at Barking since its services has been diverted to platform 7 and 8.

I wonder what will happen to platform 1 at Barking since its services has been diverted to platform 7 and 8. Nothing it's still used when there is engineering works.
