Absolutely right. This feels like years of pain , agony, watching England lose at dramatic games, has all been swept aside. Let’s go all the way , Southgate is simply remarkable. I think only a man who understands our collective trauma of the past, can lead us out of it , and he is doing just that. You could still see that pain during his interview yesterday. His players understand it too. They will bring it home. I suspect it’s difficult for those who didn’t have to suffer through 1990 and 1996 (and 1970 although that’s too far back for me!) to understand just what this result represents. Those two results in the 90s were absolute agony - seeing Gascoigne’s miss in the 1996 semi final still makes me groan, any contact and that was in - and that makes this result all the sweeter. In the cold light of day it’s just a Round of 16 win but it represents so much more and I agree that in Southgate we have a man who has lived through (even caused!) some of that agony and it’s spurring him on. I felt like yesterday was some form of redemption for him but it won’t feel anything like as good if we don’t crack on, make a decent fist of this competition and really bring it home I’m feeling good about this competition - there’s a lot of hard work ahead just to make the final (even with the ‘easier’ path) and there are plenty of twists and turns ahead but this team doesn’t seem to get flustered. They are an excellent group of players led by a determined, pragmatic manager who knows how he wants his team to play and won’t be swayed by any other opinions. I’d love to see the attacking players in our team given free rein but you cannot argue with three wins out of four and no goals conceded. Southgate is succeeding where others have failed. No one has been in his position since Sir Alf Ramsey in 1966 so he must be doing something right and he has my full backing ITS COMING HOME!!! 🏴🏴🏴🦁🦁🦁

No one has been in his position since Sir Alf Ramsey in 1966 so he must be doing something right and he has my full backing ITS COMING HOME!!! 🏴🏴🏴🦁🦁🦁 I'm just about old enough to remember 1970, one of my earliest football memories and I've still got Euro96 etched in my mind with the ball flashing across the face of an open goal and Gazza seemingly a toenail away from it and it's great to finally lay those ghosts to rest. I think the Germans will be wondering how Thomas Muller fired wide when clean through on goal yesterday. A pretty dour game in all honesty but I'll take that over being unlucky losers in a seven goal thriller. There's a definite feel good factor around this morning even amongst non football fans and whilst it's great I'm not looking beyond the Ukraine game, it was supposed to be coming home three years ago and we know how that ended. That said, my head and my heart both predict an England win on Saturday.

Switzerland, Denmark, Croatia, Netherlands, Belgium to name a few countries smaller than Scotland and have fielded better teams. As I have said they have been way over-rated for years. None of the teams you listed are smaller than Scotland in football terms - all have been fielding better players for generations especially Netherlands. Still don’t understand why you think Scotland is overrated when no one has actually overrated them in the first place. I said smaller countries as to what my statement says. I don't know what other way by smaller you are referring to. The Scottish teams over the years has had good player, they just are very poor as a team.

Interested to hear your predictions for the England match today. I'm going for a 1-0 England win today, was surprised that they beat Germany but I think they have what it takes to win. It won't be easy though because they're not playing at Wembley.

Assuming you mean Maguire Surprised he's still playing, already on a yellow and they can probably afford to sub him off.
