Have to say I didn't go in with high hopes, but really happy to see England through. The next match should hopefully be a breeze too!

I still want Kane benched despite scoring. Who knows maybe he may start scoring now.

I said 2-1 so I wasn't far out, I just had a feeling we were going win. A largely dour game in all honesty after the excitement of yesterday but who cares.......... we've knocked the Germans out of a major tournament for the first time since 1966!
Sweden or Ukraine next.

Germany was a real disappointment especially since their 7-1 win against Brazil a couple years back but extremely glad we won!

Didn't expect a win but I'm happy with the result. More confidence now that they will win the next match and progress to the semis.

But there are other countries smaller than Scotland and have fielded better teams over the years. Like who for example? Switzerland, Denmark, Croatia, Netherlands, Belgium to name a few countries smaller than Scotland and have fielded better teams. As I have said they have been way over-rated for years.

None of the teams you listed are smaller than Scotland in football terms - all have been fielding better players for generations especially Netherlands. Still don’t understand why you think Scotland is overrated when no one has actually overrated them in the first place.

I haven’t stopped smiling since last night - it really was a special night. In performance terms it wasn’t brilliant but that is not how Gareth Southgate has set England up to play. We aren’t going to be a swashbuckling, attacking side much as that is entertaining to watch. Southgate has been set the task of winning the tournament and thus far, with three wins out of four and no goals conceded you have to say he is succeeding
I do hope he takes the opportunity to start Grealish - he was very good when he came on and appeared to have an understanding with both Kane and Sterling. I think the three centre backs worked and wouldn’t be surprised to see that system retained
It’s going to be our first game on the road on Saturday and Ukraine will be no pushovers. Technically there aren’t supposed to be any English fans in the stadium but England fans usually find a way and I’ll be amazed if there isn’t a small but very vocal minority of supporters in the crowd. The crowd last night were incredible and made a half full Wembley sound full. If we can get past Ukraine - and I firmly believe we can - the atmosphere at Wembley for the semi final will be absolutely electric
Southgate won’t be looking past Ukraine though - he’s far too pragmatic for that. It’ll be another tense, nervous affair but I think 2-0 probably sounds about right
ITS COMING HOME!!! 🦁🦁🦁🏴🏴🏴

They broke my heart in 1990 They broke my heart in 1996 This means so much Far too emotional to be rational right now ITS COMING HOME!!! 🦁🦁🦁🏴🏴🏴 Yesterday felt wonderful. I was on a route 18 bus heading from Wembley to Baker Street when the goals were scored. Before we scored, the whole area seemed to be in some sort of pressure cooker. Everyone watching , horns beeping, crowds outside pubs and cafes watching TV screens, or people glued to their phones (more so than normal). Couldn’t believe the first goal , by the #BoyFromBrent . How special was that for him and the country, and Brent ! Sealed a few minutes later by our captain. I stood outside The Globe pub during the final minutes. This place was heaving in 1996, so much so the police would have to close lanes on the Marylebone Road. Today because of covid , there was no standing inside and only the smokers outside. But boy did we all shout and cheer at the final whistle. Absolutely right. This feels like years of pain , agony, watching England lose at dramatic games, has all been swept aside. Let’s go all the way , Southgate is simply remarkable. I think only a man who understands our collective trauma of the past, can lead us out of it , and he is doing just that. You could still see that pain during his interview yesterday. His players understand it too. They will bring it home.
