Had an obscure one yesterday. A 29 going from Wood Green to Harringay Salisbury Road. He could select the turn on the blinds but it wasn't available on the ibus announcements. I know the said driver and he said it's because Harringay Salisbury Road isn't an official turn from Wood Green but only from Trafalgar Square. After kicking us off one stop before the Salisbury pub he then ran light down Salisbury Road and disappeared. Same journey jones, a 232 terminating at Palmers Green, north circular road, kicks you off at Pymmes Road (towards Turnpike Lane) then runs light and turns left up via palmers green garage turns round via a roundabout and returns to normal line of route, first stop Palmerston Road. I drove the 232 for years and I used to terminate at the wrong stop then because I'd take passengers to Green Lanes so at least they could continue their journey on the 141 or the 329 if they were going onto Wood Green on Turnpike Lane! For those of you who know the route, obviously the last stop on the NCR before it turns right onto Green Lanes is not served by the 232, simply 34 and 102. But I was accidentally doing my bit for customer service for years without realising. Gotta be good sometimes, eh? Hmmm, around what time yesterday was that 29 turned that way. Not a normal turn, unless the driver was made to transfer passengers to another bus and wait.

It's most likely a short to make up for lost mileage, as buses aren't allowed to stand when they pull that turn. It does annoy me how buses disappear though, but I think another factor could be reaching close to the 5 1/2 driving hours behind the wheel. Certainly the case when a 141 I was on pulled that Salisbury Road turn, and then vanished into thin air. Most proabably to AR but did overhear the controller saying the driver had 8 minutes to get somewhere like it was a Bond film! I guess it's a case of Arriva not wanting their vehicles to be on the road while that driver break occurs. I certainly don't blame them, if Catherine Tate is anything to go by....

I'll pull whatever strings I can to find out. But as my connection to said garage has recently joined my new company as a train driver, don't know what influence I will have! But will ask him. Was definitely odd to get such a turn at that direction at that time. The public were certainly not used to it, and the driver kept announcing it as a St Ann's Road turn. On the subject of Catherine Tate. This sort of response would be apt youtu.be/Yzv7RtO2dH4 for a driver who has not received such a turn in a while

So the 35....Looking at the sideblinds on an E when I told the driver he wasn't displaying Clapham Junction; I saw that the 35 cannot terminate at Liverpool Street. It did have Monument, but as some may know; that turn can't and hasn't been performed for a few years now due to the Bank/Monument station upgrade works closing Arthur Street.
I get that some turns are banned for some routes due to the potential overflowing of stands, but some ommissions of turns like this is unacceptable. The 35 is not like the 25; which doesn't have TCR on iBus but on blinds in the event of Oxford Street being suddenly closed. Getting off-topic but the 35 should be allowed to turn at Liverpool Street.

Just wouldn't be on the blinds/ibus as you mention.

This message is directed mainly at Croydonites: can anyone tell me the history of the Hogarth Crescent stand?? I have checked all route records of those that pass it en-route and it doesn't seem to appear on any documents. Thanks in advance

I have checked all route records of those that pass it en-route and it doesn't seem to appear on any documents. Thanks in advance I think it has only ever been used as an emergency stand when West Croydon bus station has been closed? The land where a block of flats now stand in the middle of the one way system was once used as a temporary bus stand whilst West Croydon was out of action some years ago.

Thanks in advance I believe it's only an unofficial turning point though the stand has been there many years. Seen the 50, 75 & 468 all turn there in the past as well as some routes that terminate further away in Croydon like the 250.

Good news guys: TfL have offically relocated the Stukelely Road stand in Upton Park!! Along with the bus flag that's been outside the disused cash & carry for eons now, there is now a bus cage along with the flag to make it official. My assumption is TfL want this to be THE Upton Park turn, and most likely abandon the Claughton Road (Boleyn) stand due to the badly parked cars. Haven't seen that turn pulled in donkey's years either. Also, has anyone noticed the 35 terminating at its penultimate stop? I don't know why GAL think they can save time kicking people off at Shoreditch Town Hall; if anyone's there by choice, it's only a handful of people maximum that reaches the terminating point (the stand). Most annoying bit about it is the iBus indicating to you that it's not the last stop, but if you bring it up with a driver; their stance is "yes I should know, I drive the route, now get off!" Oh GAL, if only the contract stipulated where the first and last bus stops are...oh, they do??

Who uses the stand in Mattock Lane, Ealing?

Who uses the stand in Mattock Lane, Ealing? That stand is for routes turning early at West Ealing Broadway. All the E routes (E2, E3, E7, E8, E11) are authorised to stand there, whereas the high PVR routes like the 207 and 427 are not authorised to stand at Mattock Lane. That's what the official documents say; I've seen many times people reporting West Ealing Broadway when the 83 used to go to Ealing Hospital. I'm not too sure if the 483 is allowed this turn there when its contract was drawn up, that's where local observations surpasses theory to see if West Ealing is on the blinds. But definately there would be no iBus announcement for it if the turn isn't officially allocated to any route for that matter.

On the 44 & 77 at Tooting Station, some drivers let the passengers stay on until they reach the stand Would the drivers get a fine for taking passengers on oos journeys without permission from the controller?
