Back in 1978, LT offered a part-time free bus and tube service on Christmas Day.

Changes to the final stop for Route 176 at TCR from Penge. It now terminates in Great Russell Street outside the YMCA instead of New Oxford Street.

The 312 instead of having garage runs was extended from the Swan and Sugar Loaf to South Croydon Garage when the allocation was transferred from TH to TC.

I certainly remember the 12 garage runs to Elmers End.

As others have said, I think diverting the 185 wouldn't work as it would break too many links - at least this change only breaks the link east of New Cross. I'm still not keen on this proposal although I can see the value in providing a cross-Vauxhall link on this axis. Could the 156 be extended instead to say Camberwell or Peckham? On reflection, I can see that the 36/436 corridor needs a bit of tweaking but I would have said the core was the Paddington to Lewisham bit (ie the 436). What is demand like from Queens Park? Victoria or Vauxhall has always looked the natural place to end this leg but I assume that's not what the data says. If the 436 does go to Battersea Park, another option could be to tweak the 185 to every 7 mins during the peaks in one direction only. This was a solution offered for the 176 capacity issues during the peaks. This does the trick of increasing capacity (again) along the Forest Hill to Denmark Hill corridor and adding capacity lost from the 436 between Vauxhall and Victoria.

Just looking at the new 123 timetable and spotted two interesting changes with late night buses. The previous last three buses from Ilford that terminated just beyond Tottenham Hale will now run through to Wood Green. The service frequency of the last buses from Ilford is every 20 minutes but from Wood Green will be every 15 minutes. Most odd. I suspect the running through to Wood Green is because Tottenham's involvement ceases with all buses and crews from Edmonton. After a recent incident maybe they don't want drivers hanging around Wood Green than is necessary Or hanging out even!

The 436 appears to be the least worst option in comparison to the 185 which would have seen Denmark Hill, East Dulwich, Forest Hill and Catford lose their direct bus service to Victoria, where as the 436 only a small section between New Cross Gate and Lewisham would lose their direct service as the rest of the route is covered by the 36. That maybe true but the withdrawal of the 436 north of Vauxhall adds pressure to the 2 & 36 so if looked at that way, it's not the least worst option. However the section north of Vauxhall is covered by the tube. Vauxhall to Victoria has the Victoria Line following the route for starters of which relieves Route 2. Take the 185 away from Victoria and Camberwell Green will have more people waiting for the 36/436 with passengers from East Dulwich, it'll also add more pressure on the 176 between Camberwell and Forest Hill. Diverting the 185 to Battersea Park benefits nobody, but inconveniences a lot more passengers who live in Dulwich/Forest Hill than those who live in Peckham.

While I'm in agreement with most of you about the 436 diversion, I'm going to try and see if I can see it from TfL's perspective.
The 436 will still serve Vauxhall and Oval tube stations. As passengers decide to use the Victoria line to Vauxhall instead of Victoria, this provides adequate cover along the latter half of the Camberwell to Victoria corridor. There would be no change for passengers who commute to Oval station.
Lewisham has decent rail connections. Since December 2014, there is an all day service on Southeastern between Victoria and Lewisham which serves Peckham Rye, while this is 2tph, it can be faster than the crawl on the 436 from Victoria station. They also have the option of travelling to Charing Cross or Cannon Street which have direct tube services to Victoria or can use the DLR to Canary Wharf for tube services.
Crossrail will also alter journey pattens from Paddington to Lewisham and Peckham with either a change at Canary Wharf for Lewisham or Whitechapel for Peckham Rye.
I also think the 436 re-routing will provide an alternative for the Northern line extension. Instead of passengers commuting from Battersea to Kennington on the Northern line for the Morden branch, they'll use the bus to Vauxhall or Oval.
Basically, if TfL came up with this suggestion in 2018/19, they may have a credible reason for the 436 re-routing, but at the moment, it's neither credible and stinks of cuts along the Victoria to Camberwell corridor which will put pressure on the 36 and 185.

The most important thing here is a direct connection from Dulwich Hospital to KCH. It's a 5 min walk from the hospital to the 40, 176, 185, P13 (and 37 which serves the hospital) stop on Goose Green, although patients can take a short walk along Melbourne Grove to the East Dulwich Station stop for the 40, 176, 185 and 484 to KCH.
I can't remember the route number, but there was also a Sainsbury's circular in the 90s which started from Sainsburys and went to Denmark Hill, Sunray Avenue, North Dulwich Stn, East Dulwich Grove, Goose Green and back to Sainsburys.

Anyone reckon he washed his hands before touching the steering wheel? Vile individual. I'm as concerned if he left his mess on a passenger seat. Imagine the poor passenger who had to wash that off!

There's also a hygiene risk as we don't know if the alleged driver cleaned up that area on the upper deck afterwards.

After reading the Sun 'article', the fact they had a speech bubble with "room for one more on top" tells you who this story is pandering too, Kippers and other right wingers who despise what immigration has done for this country and London in general.
Have people forgotten that immigration and London Transport go hand in hand, with West Indian immigrants taking on conductor and driver jobs on London Buses in the 50s and 60s after the jobs became 'beneath' Londoners and that was over 50 years ago!
