The Sun 'news' paper is claiming that GAL is hiring Romanian bus drivers with no experience of driving the vehicles.
I would link to the 'story' but it's behind a paywall.

Spoke to my mother earlier who was travelling from Peckham to Forest Hill, initially got on the 12, but got off at Rye Lane and got the 197 instead as in her own words "is too bloody hot!"

I've tried to brainstorm a solution to this issue, however the 148 stand replacement is an issue. 42, 68, 468, N68 move to the Abellio changeover stand 40, 176, 185, 484 remain outside Superdrug 35, 45, 345 move to Orpheus Street although I doubt the side street can cope with the hordes of passengers wishing to travel to Brixton. Now here's the problem. The 148 needs somewhere else to stand. A solution could be to extend the route to Peckham Bus station via Route 12 bringing back a connection to Notting Hill and Shepherd's Bush lost when the 12 was shortened to Oxford Circus. However the running time would be extended and could become unreliable. Another is to use the space used by Route 484 by the GAL driver training centre at Camberwell Garage, yet would require re-routing itself. On the other hand, the Valmar Road stop is a short walk from the current stops for the Brixton routes on Coldharbour Lane. . As for the 148, I don't think there is much space at Peckham bus station anyway. There's spare capacity at Peckham Bus Station since the 136 was extended to the Elephant.

Those Camberwell Green bus stops outside McDonalds and Superdrug have a similar issue to the Elephant & Castle ones outside the shopping centre where buses try and pull in, then block the road up by either parking or trying to pull out.
While I don't agree with removing the interchange, leaving the bus stop by Superdrug will give more space to one group of buses.

I always thought that it was going to be the 415 and 129 extended to the new East London Line station. I remember the 129 being on the cards with the route then terminating at Peckham Bus Station.

London Travelwatch are strangely for the proposed changes.
It would have made more sense for the other stop towards East Dulwich use the new stop on Camberwell Green considering the 185 and 484 will use Camberwell Road.

BBC London are reporting that ASLEF will NOT strike on these dates. It also seems that LU has dropped the 12 September start date so we can wave goodbye to the related night bus changes on the same date. The introduction will be at a later unspecified date. With ASLEF not striking, we may see a patchy service on some lines. I'm thinking a limited stop service on the Northern and a Seven Sisters to Brixton on the Victoria for example.

The Lewisham-bound 185's running time will have to be adjusted as the rerouting would add up to ten minutes getting through the town centre. The right turn ban from Camberwell New Road into Denmark Hill cause inconvenience for some buses running light out of Q (eg. 68/468) and WL (40). Not forgetting the 484 which would also have to use Medlar Street.

I didn't see where the Abellio changeover bus stand is moving, I suspect they'll now change further down Camberwell Road at the Medlar Street stops where the GAL and Arriva drivers on Routes 12 and 176 change drivers southbound.

Southwark Council are consulting on bus stop changes and re-routing of certain bus routes at Camberwell Green to relieve congestion. In summary. Bus Stop Q outside McDonalds for buses towards Brixton or Herne Hill moves to the current bus changover for Abellio stand on Camberwell Green. Routes 35, 45 and 345 go straight along Denmark Hill to Coldharbour Lane. Route 185 will be re-routed towards Lewisham by turning left into Medlar Street, then right into Camberwell Road then line of route as the right turn from Camberwell New Road will be scrapped. Stop S driver changeover used by GAL drivers on Route 185 towards Victoria moves to Camberwell New Road. Stop P driver changeover used by GAL drivers on Route 185 towards Lewisham moves to Camberwell New Road. The main issue for me is the removal of Stop Q from Denmark Hill, this is where all three routes towards Brixton meet. If this proposal goes ahead, this will mean either using the new stop Q at Camberwell Green for the 35 and 45 or the stop in Camberwell Church St for the 345. consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/camberwell-town-centre-public-realm-improvements

Riding a RM on Route 12 to Elmers End Garage, also when Route 176 moved to London & Country and they brought in buses from South Yorkshire to operate the service.
Leyland Nationals on the 12A/B, P4 and 227.
Also riding Titans on a regular basis!

BBC London did this very unscientific test by sending a reporter on a 24.
