Update 31 July 2023 Today we have published our consultation report following this consultation. We received 256 responses to the consultation and would like to thank everyone that took part. A range of views were expressed in response to consultation. Generally, the feedback was positive with overall support for the proposals. Following careful consideration of the consultation responses, we have decided to proceed with the proposed changes to bus routes 79 and 83 as set out in the consultation. The service changes are expected to take place during 2023. Any changes will be supported with customer information in advance, and with minimal disruption to current bus journeys. haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/21971/widgets/62503/documents/45079Yes

To be honest I don’t know why this link wasn’t already made. This link should have been provided years ago.

So, good news is that this will reinstate a previous route 79 or 79a link between Wembley, Alperton and Stonebridge Park.
It also means both route 83 termini will be at or near Sainsbury's stores.

Trivia: PV will operate two routes that have the same termini for both ends 83 and 245 Similar at BX for the 132 and 486. And TV for the 406 and 418. At one time also TH for the 109 & 250, although to be pedantic they did have seperate stands at the Croydon end though the same advertised termini.

TFL have confirmed that it will take place on the 26th August 2023: tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/bus-changes#on-this-page-4Changes to routes 79 & 83 – 26 August 2023 From Saturday 26 August route 79 will be changed to run between Edgware Bus Station and Stonebridge Park Station and route 83 will be extended to Alperton, Sainsbury’s. Route 79 will be rerouted from Ealing Road via Mount Pleasant and Beresford Avenue to Stonebridge Park Station providing new links to the new Grand Union development located off Beresford Avenue. Route 79 will no longer serve bus stops at Alperton Station or Alperton, Sainsbury’s. Route 79 will continue to run every 12 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays and every 15 minutes during the evening and all day on Sundays. Route 83 will be extended from Alperton Station to Alperton, Sainsbury’s replacing route 79. Route 83 will continue to run every 8 minutes during the daytime on Monday to Saturdays, every 10 minutes during the daytime on Sundays and every 12 minutes during the evening on all days of the week. Times for both the 79 and 83 will be available in our journey planner tool at www.tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journeychanges-to-routes-79-and-83-map.pdf

It’s amazing how quickly TfL will move for these changes, yet down south it’s been two years since the Sutton-Croydon consultation results and the only major service revision has been to the S1. Sometimes it baffles me how little attention Sutton gets from TfL.

Tfl clearly have a bias for North London (ie where the tube is). They clearly love North Finchley by giving them several new bus routes both future and past few years. By 2025 we will have seen the 112, 383, N271, SL1 and SL10. Granted it's a major interchange however not the biggest in London.
However it's good that tfl are going ahead with these changes so quickly

While we the cattle class get cuts

Sometimes it baffles me how little attention Sutton gets from TfL. I think it was quickly realised how much extra the Sutton changes would cost and that back in 2021/22 it would have been hard to justify though ofcourse I was say the Sutton had long been underfunded transport wise. I haven't heard anything yet about any extra buses being sourced for the 312.
