www.mylondon.news/news/south-london-news/london-bus-driver-comeback-viral-27009774?int_source=nbaA funny and interesting bus story. I don't think it was the most appropriate way for the bus driver to tell the passenger to get off the bus but it still worked! I'm not surprised it happened on the 197 considering the sh*tholes it passes on either end of the route (especially Croydon) It must be noted though that this is an article from My London who often publish satirical and wacky articles.

The headline is so unexpected that it’s funny! Also whoever chose that 197 photo must have been trying to choose the worst one on purpose…

Do you really have to use such language to describe places such as Croydon? Pretty sure we have forum members from there who wouldn’t appreciate you describing the place they live in such a tone.

Do you really have to take constant dogs about my posts? That's at least three times today! (Here, Ride London and Piccadilly line). Besides you don't live there so I don't know why you're poking your nose here. Others would agree with me about Croydon regardless of whether they live there or not

But they were allowed to, as they came from Croydon… TBH, whilst I'm not from Croydon, they aren't wrong that Croydon is a hellhole so I personally don't have any issue with that nor anyone thinking my own area is one - I'll disagree with a lot of it but it's their opinion at the end of the day

I live there and it is a shithole. I regularly ask myself am I sane in the head after moving back here when I left Yorkshire. Probably was a mistake. Moving is such a pain in the ass, it will be my home!

I'm sure I saw reference to that article on MSN with an out of service Arriva DW with destination Peckham on the blinds.
As it is, Croydon is one of my least visited areas of London. I came in January after visits in Nov 20, Aug 21 and Oct 22 were aborted or overtaken by events. Between my previous visit in June 14 and Jan 23, I'd had 26 other London trips elsewhere!

Sadly he just can't help himself, he will probably claim he's being bullied now and the whole cycle goes round again. Sadly WH241 did this to others in the past. I've got at least 4 names of people who he bullied on various threads. The whole point of this thread is to discuss the article, yet he walks into an area of London he doesn't live in and picks faults in my post. I'm sure calling Croydon a shithole caused very little offense. Yes I'm aware that some people live there and if I offended you then I'm sorry but I'm just speaking the truth. WH241 also tried to wind me up on the Piccadilly line thread by walking into an area he probably has never been to. I don't see anything wrong with discussing an area of London you don't live in, but he just seems to want to pick faults in my post. I understand that I probably did annoy him on the Ride London thread but then again I was just giving him my honest opinion

I'm probably going to be in a minority here but I actually don't think Croydon is that bad and I think the 197 is generally quite a pleasant route. Bromley for example is often heralded as a much nicer place but there have been similar problems there including a ban on under 16s without parents or guardians at The Glades shopping centre because of anti social behaviour... www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/23548947.glades-bromley-shopping-centre-ban-kids-16/I haven't watched any videos of this incident on the 197 but for a driver to be saying something like that is pretty unprofessional to say the least.

Most of them will probably agree with him Most places in London are to be fair… I just saw a video of some parasite blocking the tram from moving. No other words to describe that… people who do those things are their own worst enemy you have missed it go wait for another one. If it is an unsafe boarding place and anything happens then it’s the driver who gets the blame.

Croydon is Haringey's dirty cousin there are some nice parks in Croydon, it's a shame Westfield never came to the area as the shopping malls in Croydon need some TLC but as the only place in London to see trams, it's OK. There are nice parts like Upper Norwood and the leafy streets of Whyteleafe, but West Croydon and Thornton Heath are best avoided after dark Love the stock photo of the tired DW, with all fleetnames edited out. Gotta love the journalism. Kudos to the 197 driver

My local decathlon bans under 18s from shopping without an adult. Though this is never enforced. Anti social behavior exists everywhere in London but Croydon has a bit of a bad reputation in London
