Or an another massive GLA council tax increase. But let’s not worry, it’s someone else’s fault. Carowners’ fault obviously. Those evil ones Yep it’s all down to car owners, central government, people who aren’t diverse enough to fit the current narrative. Basically not Khan at all.

I have said on multiple occasions, and you can quote me here, that we need a new mayor but someone more independent who will not play party politics but rather focus on what London needs. Leave the games to the politicians In Westminster on all sides of the commons.

This is why I will maintain that, despite later issues, Ken Livingstone was our best mayor to date even when he worked under the Labour banner. He was solely focused on making London great and not a political game. Yes, he probably did play it a bit but not to the extent Johnson and Khan have. Khan at this point just uses the mayoral role as a mouthpiece for his political ideology, he doesn’t give a poo about Londoners.

While it is true he did try to do things for London, it was very much through his political lens, and from my memory he certainly played many political games, which I won't list here. It is just that those political games are even worse now.

Actually even if you are the “right” skin colour you need to vote for the right party. Else you are a turncoat / whatever term you want to use (leaving out for political correctness!)

I wonder if Aslef will want a further increase now... Several articles have their spokesperson quoted as saying the 5% previously agreed will now be rejected. This is hilarious as they already agreed to it. Hmmm, thick plot thickens

BBC News - London Tube strikes called off as more pay talks planned Khan had another dig down the sofa and found £30m, god only knows from where though. Many are now saying that because he said there was nothing on the table before and it was the end then at the 11th hour pulled this stunt. In future if they says they have no money and it is the final offer the unions would not believe it. Could you blame them, after all it would appear TfL/Mayor was deliberately holding back the funds or taking them for a ride.

It’s a dangerous precedent to set and rightly so, Khan has exposed the idea that if you put enough pressure on TfL they will cave. Any chance they come out with a reasonable but most importantly affordable deal is slowly slipping away. But no doubt Khan will now turn to the government, through a lot of media appearances and articles to try to force them to provide more TfL funding for day to day operations.

Seen just now on ITV London, Sadiq Khan trying to dispute to the reporter the 30 million pounds extra offered to the RMT. What's the issue? Him writhing away to confirm the amount despite his spokesperson confirming it yesterday.
I'm not so sure if it's off-the-scale narcissism from the Son of a Bus Driver or potential hedonism, perhaps he gets a thrill lying to the public and getting away with it. This behaviour though is reminding me of a lyric from Public Enemy's Harder Than You Think: "if you don't stand for something, you fall for anything". The Mayor chooses not to co-operate & be transparent unless it benefits him entirely, not so sure it makes for good qualities in a leader of almost 10 million.

The trouble is it's yet another thing that will please the public without them knowing the financial implications. Over the past year he's 'saved' 13 bus routes which, controversial to say on the bus forum page some could have been withdrawn due to changes in travelling habits. Also kept the Freedom Pass at 60 when from this March potentially it would have been aged 62 and a good few millions more in revenue. This now is iv stopped the devasting strikes this week.

I am of a firm belief that if anyone in society is overpaid it's tube drivers, especially on ATO lines who are effectively just paid to sit there. However I do not blame ASLEF one bit, if you are reluctantly accepting an offer believing it's actually the best you get then find out you were lied through then of course you are going to go back. Khan really should have just let the RMT strike themselves into unaffordability because now chances are that we'll be far worse off in the grand scheme. TfL's bloating is ridiculous, I have no idea why nominee passes are still a thing, why is someone who doesn't work for the company getting constant free rides? A 50% discount pass would be far more appropriate, to at least at a minimum cover some costs. I also can totally agree with some routes that should have actually been withdrawn, the 24 for example would probably be fine if you extended the 27 up to Hampstead Heath and a route from Victoria down to Pimlico.

The 24 has come up as an overcrowded route lately and the tourist/central London bus demand is high, there is no way the 24 is nearly as expendable as it might have been earlier in this decade.
