The trouble is it's yet another thing that will please the public without them knowing the financial implications. Over the past year he's 'saved' 13 bus routes which, controversial to say on the bus forum page some could have been withdrawn due to changes in travelling habits. Also kept the Freedom Pass at 60 when from this March potentially it would have been aged 62 and a good few millions more in revenue. This now is iv stopped the devasting strikes this week. I also can totally agree with some routes that should have actually been withdrawn, the 24 for example would probably be fine if you extended the 27 up to Hampstead Heath and a route from Victoria down to Pimlico. And then where does it stop?

And then where does it stop? Would imagine this is where the line could get a bit blurred. A lot of the issues I saw weren't the withdrawals themselves, but the mitigations proposed instead.

Seen just now on ITV London, Sadiq Khan trying to dispute to the reporter the 30 million pounds extra offered to the RMT. What's the issue? Him writhing away to confirm the amount despite his spokesperson confirming it yesterday. I'm not so sure if it's off-the-scale narcissism from the Son of a Bus Driver or potential hedonism, perhaps he gets a thrill lying to the public and getting away with it. This behaviour though is reminding me of a lyric from Public Enemy's Harder Than You Think: "if you don't stand for something, you fall for anything". The Mayor chooses not to co-operate & be transparent unless it benefits him entirely, not so sure it makes for good qualities in a leader of almost 10 million. Presumably the actual extra amount will depend on further negotiations, though I doubt that if 30 million is on the table it's going to be any less than that.

TfL's bloating is ridiculous, I have no idea why nominee passes are still a thing, why is someone who doesn't work for the company getting constant free rides? A 50% discount pass would be far more appropriate, to at least at a minimum cover some costs. London Transport traditionally gave free ‘Spouse’ passes to the ‘wives’ of married bus and Underground staff. This was extended in these days of inclusion and diversity, to partners (of whatever sexual orientation) who were not married; then to encompass all variations the partner issue, the ‘nominee’ pass fairly covers most of the options.

Strikes aren’t good from a passenger / taxpayer perspective but I’m fully behind this one. Aslef well and truly got screwed by this and I hope their members are able to secure a better deal. Also truly hope this bites Khan in the arse, let’s hope his hubris will be his downfall. Although I do fell sorry for the TfL negotiating team, Khan has made their job infinitely harder to do.

Good news and a good use of the extra funding that turned up.

I don’t even worry about these any more as Khan will just drop his trousers and offer them cash straight away.

Apparently Kier Starmer wasn't happy last time when that one was called off last minute when that £30m was suddenly found. Not surprised he wasn't as it simply gives the message that Labour will give into Unions and that's something he has been trying to move the party away from a bit in order to win over middle England.
