That mirrors my journey on the Saturday just gone except that once we hit Commercial Road, the traffic evaporated to the point where the road was deserted at times. Didn't stop our 135 being turned though. We hit solid traffic approaching Shoreditch. Same all the way to Commercial Rd but as you said, once there we sped up.... Bizarre. Hmm, interesting. My 135 journey was traffic free except for Commercial Road where we hit gridlock and I gave up with the route and went home from Aldgate. However should you have an empty road these buses really can do the speed.

It's going to be hell tomorrow and Thursday. Because not only is the London Underground going on strike but First Great Western is also apparently going on strike from tomorrow until Saturday morning. Source!

So the talks broke down, and various news agencies are reporting that it's too late and that the strike will definitely go ahead. The Independent also mentioned the 'District Light Railway'. Not quite sure what that means.

c2c are advertising that services will not be stoping at West Ham as it is managed by London Underground, presumably it is the same for the DLR. Seeing as London Underground manage Stratford as well I wonder if that station will be closed as well and if it is then Stratford is probably a no go area.
EDIT: c2c have it on their website now that due to engineering work this evening trains are diverting to Liverpool Street, but trains are unable to call at Stratford.

Well, we are at another Strike Said to be the worst yet. Can we expect any special workings and extras on buses? On the assumption the strike goes ahead then the TfL advice page is indicating that 200 extra buses will be in operation. No indication as to the routes they might be used on. The talks between LU and the unions have resumed so we'll see what happens. Given I've now posted about extra buses the strike will likely be cancelled given I've jinxed the last couple of "vintage bus running days" by doing so. There's about 50 vintage extras out at last count. I'll be on the 29s this evening and tomorrow with a lovely Leyland RM.

People forget that stations like Stratford, Whitechapel, Bank, West Ham, Canning Town, Canada Water are run by LU and will be shut tomorrow even if other services also run there. This will almost certainly throw people who will turn up and then find they can't get on or off trains. LU might be able to put managers in at one or two key places provided they're familiarised for those locations but it won't be easy to open places like Bank as it's such a massive complex. Imagine Shadwell trying to take the strain that Canada Water takes for people wanting to reach Dockland from South London. Simply won't be able to manage the crowds so it'll probably shut on safety grounds because the lifts can't cope with hundreds of people every 5 minutes.

Unlike last year the first phase of the DDA disability Act is now in force, which means buses under 7500kg need to be compliant if used in PSV service. From memory some RMs are bit below this, the bigger RMLs are about 7800kg. Can't remember weight of other vintage buses. Don't think there is time to apply for exemption or arrange to run the service as a private charter. Would have be worse last week when Wimbledon and Hampton Court were at full tilt. I think spare Abellio buses are covering a Scottish rail tunnel closure, and the old Arriva fleet probably delicenced (with flat batteries) so not many spares around

Now that I'm free (did want to go into town to hunt down VW1894 after my theory test but I felt a bit meh so I gave up on that) I'm going to brave the crowds tomorrow to see what's what. I'm more keen to see the newer 'vintage' buses (such as Metrobus(es), Tridents and B7TLs) as well as other stuff. Would like to see what will be on the H91, hoping for an Olympian or at least a Transit B7TL, though Sod's law dictates I'm going to see a flood or SPs.
Wonder if NS's MMCs will get their London debut on the 8 or 205?

The strike hasn't started yet, and there's already chaos in Tooting! Traffic isn't moving on Tooting High Street.
