They did - the DAF / VDL DB250 and then the VDL DB300. You could, at an absolute stretch, perhaps infer the Wright Streetdeck is the next in the line although the DB300 can still be supplied AIUI (one went to KMB in Hong Kong). Technically, the Optare Spectra is the successor body wise to the MCW Metrobus as Optare brought the blueprints & plans to the MCW Metrobus and developed the Spectra from there. But yes, chassis wise, the DAF DB250 high floor is also the successor. I had forgotten about the Spectra - you're correct about that. Arriva Yorkshire still have a nice selection of those in service.

It's nice to know that a MK1 MCW Metrobus is still alive. Someone should make a New Metrobus. Optare misheard and made the MetroDecker You can't beat the Metrobus, though I felt sorry for the ones in later years struggling on the hills on the 468 Love that Daily Smash article. TBH there is not a great deal to driving trains now, even the old Victoria Line trains were automatic where the driver just pressed a button, but had to be there in case of having to override the thing in an emergency. Apparently BoJo said the new Picadilly line trains will be automated, and should start production by next year. I think things are supposed to be back to normal by tomorrow... something tells me that there will be another strike soon if their (unreasonable ) demands are not met soon Well their are rumours of a future strike.

I would not rule out the chances of another strike in the future either...

There's about 50 vintage extras out at last count. I'll be on the 29s this evening and tomorrow with a lovely Leyland RM. Unlike last year the first phase of the DDA disability Act is now in force, which means buses under 7500kg need to be compliant if used in PSV service. From memory some RMs are bit below this, the bigger RMLs are about 7800kg. Can't remember weight of other vintage buses. Don't think there is time to apply for exemption or arrange to run the service as a private charter. Would have be worse last week when Wimbledon and Hampton Court were at full tilt. I think spare Abellio buses are covering a Scottish rail tunnel closure, and the old Arriva fleet probably delicenced (with flat batteries) so not many spares around That first phase of the DDA currently in force is only for single deckers, not double deckers. Vehicles are apparently exempt for up to 20 days per year anyway, to allow things like heritage runs.
