The 62 can have as little as two minutes at the Barking end in the evenings. How much of that is to do with efficient timetabling and how much is to minimise the risk of driver assaults/vehicle damage from the Gascoigne cherubs I can't say with authority. Being a ,'Gascoigne Estate Cherub' I agree with the point. It's not the safest of places, especially in the dark but the 62 does terminate on the main Road so there isn't as much danger as it may seem. Similar happens on the Marks Gate end, as it's a really lonely area in the night and not the safest of places. Yes, I can remember looking at previous timetables for the 62 which seemed to show >5 minutes stand times in the evenings at both ends.. Marks Gate gets longer now. But I'm not sure how that worked out in practice! The 368 has similar turnaround times in Harts Lane.. not as lively as the Gascoigne Estate, but the stand is right in the middle of the estate rather than on the edge.

The 268 just doesn't need DDs - the route does carry standing loads at peak times but aside from a few school crush journeys I've never seen one leave people behind.
In practice you could squeeze a DD through Belsize Village but you'd need to do some tree pruning first, or put some beefy deflectors on the top deck!! I have a feeling the residents of Belsize Park (the road itself) would lynch TfL if they decided to send 12 ton d/ds thundering down there on the 268. I don't know how well full size deckers would work on Heath Street - yes, the N5 makes easy work of it, but that's in the small hours when the roads are empty. I took the 603 down there a fair few times in it's first year or two of service and remember it being *very* tight going indeed with peak congestion. A few journeys a day yes, but a x12 basis I can't see working (cf. Southwood Lane in Highgate). Rosslyn Hill and the High Street would be fine.
If any route through Hampstead should get deckers I'd go for the 46. Might take a downstairs seat for any trip passing Kentish Town West, though.

125 from Winchmore Hill to Enfield Town via 329
382 from Southgate to Winchmore Hill via Fox Lane (newly served roads)
These were being mooted around the time the 382 came into existence.

383 withdrawn between Barnet Spires and Potters Bar via Kitts End, i.e. almost the whole of the original route. Various other routes have plied the Barnet-PB corridor e.g. 263, 326, but these were projections from their normal services and operated via the Great North Road.
172 withdrawn between Liverpool Street and St. Paul's and adopts a circuitous rerouting between Ludgate Circus & St. George's Circus via Fleet Street and Waterloo Bridge. Extended 100 covers Liverpool Street - Blackfriars Road gap.
344 withdrawn between Elephant & Castle and London Bridge, rerouted via Southwark Bridge to Liverpool Street.
149 withdrawn between Liverpool Street and Waterloo (peak hours only), rerouted to London Bridge. Rerouted 344 replaces Southwark Bridge section.
259 withdrawn between Edmonton Green and Ponders End, and also between King's Cross and Holborn Circus (same date in 1998)
279 withdrawn between Manor House and Hollloway replaced by beefed up 259 service.
N279 withdrawn between Waltham Cross and Upshire, Princesfield Road (early morning journey)
112 withdrawn between Brent Cross and Wood Green, replaced by the 232.
221 withdrawn between Turnpike Lane and Holborn Circus without direct replacement.
W10 withdrawn between Crews Hill and Cuffley, no replacement.
231 withdrawn between Enfield Town and Carterhatch, replaced by changes to the 191 and a Sunday service on the 217.
317 withdrawn between Waltham Cross and Upshire, Princesfield Road - replaced by commercial services in Herts.

I do wonder how many Canary Wharf folk would want to travel to wonderful places such as Canning Town , Plaistow and Upton Park But it would give Canning Town and Canary Wharf a bus link? People always say why not just extend the 5 there which goes the small way up and is longer going all the way to Romford! Maybe not the suits in finance, but plenty of ancillary jobs need people who could be living in the ungentrified depths of Newham.

Wednesday PM - didn't make a mental note of any fleet numbers as was not planning to recount the trip, but types do stick to mind:
279 home to Seven Sisters Station. One of the usual Ts Greater Anglia: Seven Sisters to Bethnal Green (315???) Walk from Bethnal Green BR to Whitechapel for the ELL - haven't done this for a while, but a handy zone 1 avoiding method travelling from North to SE London! Overground: Whitechapel to Canada Water Walk Canada Water to Surrey Quays Tesco 199 Surrey Quays - Greenwich Town Centre. usual Enviro fayre. Very slow going through Deptford as not long after school chucking out time. Walk to Greenwich Station, to find that a derailment had closed the Woolwich line at Charlton. DLR: Greenwich - Lewisham Southeastern: Lewisham - Barnehurst (376???) 229 Barnehurst - Bexleyheath Clock Tower (WVL) 96 Bexleyheath Clock Tower - Bluewater Shopping Centre (Scania) 492 Bluewater Shopping Centre - Crayford Station (62?? - but did spot a single decker heading other way). Into the evening by now so very quiet: left Bluewater with a dozen passengers on board, stopped once to p/u at Horns Cross, again in Dartford, and again around Chastilian Road. Southeastern: Crayford - Charing Cross (465???) Northern line: Charing Cross - Warren Street Vic: Warren Street - Seven Sisters walk home
