Thanks, of course the factor with the road and pavement outside is they haven’t mini Hollanded it yet. You never know, LBWF might actually have thought about that and have a joined-up view of how to make it line up to the new station. Sorry. Fuzzy sick brain again, of course they haven’t, this is Waltham Forest.

As it’s my local station, be lovely if it actually happens. Thanks for the link to the article. I’m either being dumb this morning or into day 2 of being signed off work ... but how does it make the interchange to buses more complex? The new emtrance is literally to the side of the ticket hall, looking like where the bike shed/outside staircase is. Not going to make a dent in the walking route to the stops.

Which stop are 25 and 425 on in the bus station, going to Mile End? Went to have a nosey today but couldn’t see a new stop for them, and nothing on the posters to say they were rerouted into the bus station.
As a 158 user, it’s much better now we don’t go round the gyratory!

How was the kindle display trial on TEH1224? Similar display to that being trialled at West Ham. Larger screens now available. The Kindle display is absolutely not a similar display to that at West Ham. West Ham displays are LED, the Kindle is ePaper ... and was useless in service..

Because ... shock horror ... TfL has made a mistake. Heaven forbid.

I've managed to write a very polite reply (yes really). Don't think I've ever written so much back on a TfL consultation.

As a fellow resident of LBWF I'm sick to death of em. I can walk faster now from Midland Road to Walthamstow Central, and don't even bother getting the bus anymore.
And this proposal is another idiotic one. The other thing is that if buses drop off solely in the Bus Station the ticket gates at the Underground level probably wouldn't cope as there's only three (?) barriers down there. If several buses arrive at once, as they're prone to doing, it'll be very congested.
And what a pain in the bum for people going towards Leyton. Half the service in the bus station, the other half on the bridge. That'll be unpleasant as well (sorry, just noticed you'd said that already Snoggle!).

No idea about power of the new ones as I have no interest in engines, gearboxes or the engineering side of buses, my interest is in their operation (scheduling, etc.J ... not meant as an insult btw. They just /feel/ better suited to Brighton conditions than the original batch. Guess the proof of the pudding would be if one ever did the 12!
I’d totally forgotten about the 12 batch being full height as well as I tend to stay in the city more when I’m down there - the 12 is a total nightmare of a route as it’s an OAP day out route with their passes. Thanks for the correction.

Fortunately the 29 uses Geminis now in a really nice version of the new livery (gold base with purple). We did a day from London by going to Tunbridge Wells on the train and using B&H’s Key Smartcard to do the full 29 into Brighton, a great run (especially coming back as we got the peak only 29X even-more limited stop version)
I lived in Brighton back in the 90s so like to get back from time to time. The operation doesn’t seem as slick as it used to, traffic is getting worse to the point where routes are regularly curtailed to the Old Steine instead of Churchill Square, the 12 being particularly prone to this.
Fleet wise there’s still a bit of variety though which is nice from an enthusiast point of view. The new dual door Streetdecks going into the 7 and 49 are better than the ones on the 12 being full height and with a better engine, the originals are gutless as has been said already in the thread.

What a load of old rubbish (aimed at the article, not you for posting it!) If Stagecoach couldn't make Megabus Gold pay, how the hell will a 16 berther make any money?

I'm firmly in your camps, don't get me wrong. Neither route should be chuffed around with - was just mulling options given the opening post. The old 551 route was useful for longer distance journeys - for example, I worked in Romford for many years and lived just behind the Telephone Exchange on Hoe Street, so the 551 was a brilliant option to get me home after work (preferred doing the train to work though). If the 551 went the way of the W19 through Whipps I would have been an unhappy camper, sending it up Whipps X Road made sense. For a shorter route like the W19 the local links are more sensible.

I'd hate to see the W15 messed around with, as it goes past the end of my road by the low bridge in question, is there now justification with the Hopper fare for taking the W19 out of Whipps Cross hospital and sending it back via the old 551 route straight up via the Green Man and Whipps Cross Road instead as another alternative to a James Lane reroute? Missing Leytonstone station would probably be the no no though.

Not fussed about the 2+2 seating as it's so blooming hard to get on trains in rush hour between Leyton and Blackhorse Road. I'll quite like to be able to get on a train when it turns up instead of having to brave the roads in Waltham Forest - I can sometimes walk faster from Leyton to Walthamstow these days.

I doubt the c2c ones would work on real time either. The London Overground board at Shoreditch High Street shows historical data for each train and how it's been loaded over the last year (I think it was a year). It's a good idea though.

I think the 108 re-route was the worse of the two swaps though, not the D8 being double-decked. We did the 108 from Lewisham to Stratford (well that was our intention, never again!) Gave up on that after it came out of the Tunnel and went onto the old D8 route - what was a full bus then became full almost to the point of bursting so ended up bailing out before we'd even made it to Bromley-by-Bow. Shame that Bow School couldn't have received a 6XX service if they were expecting that sort of demand that the old 108 couldn't cope.
