RE: Bus routes just after the school/college rush. I know its very difficult to keep buses to time, especially during peak hours, but it seems everytime I use the bus just after the school/college rush, buses are regularly missed out/turned/very late. This seems very common on the 20 especially. I know its difficult, but why can't this be reflected in the timetable? I don't mind poor service every now and then, but it seems for some routes it happens daily. All I'll say on the matter of school time bus services is that if fewer people drove their kids to school in a car the buses would have far less traffic to contend with. Bet the 20 (much like our 174 & 248's) ran way better when the schools were off I bet all routes in london ran better when the schools were off because there werent any scrummies in thier chelsea tractors clogging up the streets.

The LDP's i beleive will be decomissioned, as has haappened to the International Shuttle buses. Coincidentally, the LDPs have both died just before being surplus to requirements, with 107 having a leaking fuel tank and 92 blowing black smoke everywhere.. causing LDP202 and PVL90 to take their place for the last day today! Indeed as i noticed by the driver sign off sheet earlier!! I suspect both 92 and 107 will have thier O-licences removed over the weekend and officially be decomissioned.

Have been informed via the Grapevine that the Athletes Village service will be withdrawn after service on Saturday 17th.
I beleive staff can enter the site now via the Startford City development, rendering the bus service surplus to requirements.
The fate of the buses are unknown. The majority of the PVL's were stripped of Ibus and ETM equipment long ago so to press them back into TFL service would take some time, if that has been considered an option.
The LDP's i beleive will be decomissioned, as has haappened to the International Shuttle buses.

It seems that the 25 is being quite heavily monitored at the moment - I have on a number of occasions seen controllers or observers at Mile End Station, so drivers probably daren't run ahead of schedule. You know the running time is excessive when you have 17 minutes to do Mile End - Aldgate, and 24 minutes between Bank and Holborn, when 15 would be ample for either stretch. In fact at off peak times you can theoretically complete those stretches in 14 and 10 minutes easily. I think Mile End is the changeover point on the 25 so they dare'nt run early because the releif driver may not be there and the bus has to sit and wait for the releif driver to arrive. That could also explain the presence of a roadside controller.

That could be bad moving the AV shuttle to NX and BX as buses will have to cross the Thames everyday at the busiest times and cant use the Blackwall Tunnel is using DDs. Well if I remember rightly, and egg can confirm or deny this, most vehicles are parked at the AV stop within the park during the less busy times anyway. Plus, I believe double deck buses can use the Woolwich Ferry. Not being funny, but it'll be easier coming from BX and NX at times than it is from Rainham!! Yes, the Ferry is usable (have used it myself many a time with w Bus), as well as Darford Crossing. Double deckers can also use the Blackwall southbound only as the S/B tunnel is bigger than the N/B one. However i have since been informed these are preliminary measures and are also not 100% confirmed, they may all go to NX, or split, BV may even get an allocation, nothing has been set in concrete yet.

the only changes scheduled to ocurr at the moment is the 300 to BE and the 376 which is awarded to and will start from BE.
As a result of the staff requirements for the changes, the Atheletes village service allocations are moving from SI to BX and NX (joint allocstion).
All the other changes are on hold for the time being.

The EL1 and EL2 are actually one route. the reason for the 1 and 2 suffix's is because the section between Thames View Estate and Dagenham Dock was expected to be lesser used than the Ilford - Barking - Thames View section. Therefore by cutting every other bus back to Thames View, you concentrate the most resources over the busiest section of the route.
The thing with that you create a problem with every other bus on said route not going all the way. The easiest way around this for TFL was to number the shortend workings seperately to the longer ones, thats where you get the EL1 and EL2 from. In effect both routes run together at a joint frequency, so in the real world, an EL1 would be followed by an EL2, then that would be followed by the next EL1, so the daytime service pattern is scheduled as EL1, EL2, EL1, EL2 and so on.
I also beleive it is still the case that the buses interwork between the routes, so xxx on the EL1 changes to EL2 at Ilford, does 1 rounder then back on EL1's etc.
So the purpose behind the numbering is to differentiate the short and long workings. Who knows as/if patronage picks up over the lesser used section the short workings might get extended, thus one route would be in effect withdrawn with the other taking the responsibility for all scheduled workings.
HTIOI.
