I hate Oxford Street and in general Central London. I can go to either Westfield and go to the exact same shops, eat, see a movie and visit a casino. Oxford Street has zero appeal nowadays and only really caters to tourists and Arabs doing Eid shopping. Completely understand. I work in the general Knightsbridge area now and it’s mini Middle East. The number of fancy cars / number plates is mind boggling - no one will even look at you if you are driving a fancy bmw / Audi / merc. Has to be a Lamborghini / Ferrari / aston Martin / Porsche at least. Even saw a couple of Bugatti Chiron / veyron once - what a car! I used to hate Arabs when I worked on Oxford Street, particularly in the run up to Eid. I’d spend ages cleaning and tidying my shelves then they come in at 9.30pm, let their kids run around, spray everything, want immediate service and spend barely anything. Genuinely some of the most entitled arseholes I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting.

Careful, someone will accuse you of being 'racist' like they did to me because I said TfL don't care about the actual outer suburbs, semi-rural and cross-boundary routes because they affect people who are more likely to be old and white.

Westminster Council has now approved the revamp of Oxford Street, subject to funding being available work will commence next Autumn. The Council has approved an initial £7.7 million and is looking for up to £25 million from businesses in the area. The road will not be pedestrianised - that was taken off the table a while ago. However pavements will be widened and crossings will also be made wider, with longer pedestrian phases. Additional formal crossing places will be established. Street furniture and other general clutter on the pavements will also be relocated. All turns at Oxford Circus will be banned - so straight ahead only. This will allow the pavements at Oxford Circus to be built out so that pedestrian crossing times can be reduced - this could potentially reduce congestion. This will require changes to some bus routes in the vicinity of Oxford Circus, with some stops and stands being relocated - these have already been discussed in this post: tangytango.proboards.com/post/759712www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/westminster-council-approves-oxford-street-revamp-paving-the-way-for-wider-pavements-and-less-clutter-65674/Essentially all standing arrangements at Oxford Circus will be flipped on its head to make buses compliant for the straight only junction. And TfL get their wish in finally pulling back the 94 off Regent Street. I assume buses will have a roundabout way of accessing Regent Street from Oxford Street West, but TfL already specified Portman Square for the 94 blindset. They won't hesitate in pulling it back. I do think the simplified standing arrangement is better. Particularly for the 55 and 73. Whether or not it will actually work will be interesting. Stand space looks to be tight on John Prince’s Street and then bus movements are being thrown in with the 94 and 139. The 22 is probably the worst of the bunch being nowhere Oxford Circus Definitely agree the 94 will be curtailed as a result of this change. Not sure that is the right decision considering how busy the route gets.

I thought 94 change was formally cancelled so I think this time it will go on the back streets to still reach Picc Circus. Correct. 139 and N113 too.

No 94 or 139 down Regent to Piccadilly. All Westminster council are doing is making travel by bus more difficult. I imagine that this will require revision to some of the services currently terminating at Oxford Circus. TfL might struggle to accommodate so many routes if Regent Street and Oxford Circus are ahead only. Maybe there will be an exception for buses only in the final scheme. I don’t think the scheme will generate more footfall. Will be interesting to see if businesses choose to vacate instead of paying increased rates. 94, 139 and N113 are not being curtailed. They will be diverted via the back streets to the north west of Oxford Circus so they can proceed directly along Regent Street across the junction.

Covent Garden/Long Acre, St. Pancras, Victoria/Victoria Place, Ludgate Circus and up to Farringdon are all much better places to shop/eat than Oxford Street. In its current form, it’s had its day, I believe.

Long gone are the days where they'd be four artics from the 25 on stand at Holles Street, and after conversion all eastbound routes (8, 25, 55, 73) sharing the same first stop. Things are going to get tight on John Princes Street and Great Castle Street and like you, I believe the 94 will be pulled back eventually. Original plans can change over time...

Looks like more rearranging deck chairs on the titanic to me, these proposals seem like an expensive set of tweaks that won't achieve a lot. I'd say they're even more disappointing than the proposals to create pedestrian squares either side of Oxford Circus. Straight ahead only at Oxford Circus is a good move, it helps simplify movements, you won't have buses getting stuck in the middle of the junction when trying to turn into Regent Street anymore and I'm relieved the 94 won't be a victim of this change.

It will probably end up cutback by stealth as the majority will probably jump off before Oxford Circus if the route is going round the houses in order to reach Regent Street.

The 94's fate will probably end up being decided by the Regent's Street consultation which went out at about the same time as the Oxford Street one (technically phase 1 of consultation so just asking about rough ideas rather than concrete plans).

I wouldn't be entirely against cutting the 94 to Oxford Circus if it has to be cut and have it do the manoever the 7 is going to do (turn in Holles Street I think and depart via Great Princes Street or vice versa). That would atleast really give the 23 a role as a Marble Arch to Piccadilly Circus link.

I agree that buses stuck on the junction waiting to turn into Regent Street is an infuriating waste of road capacity. So straight ahead makes sense. It’s what you do with individual routes that then matters.
