It’s been nearly a month since they joined up the East side to the core. From observations the pros are that it is definitely a success as the trains are heaving full mainly being the Abbey Wood / Heathrow / Reading section trains. The cons is the West Side seems to be doing worst than the East Side riddled with delays or trains bypassing certain stops. This is my own observation. I’ve also noticed the Central Line seems to be less crowded. I’m looking forward to the Shenfield line going further than Paddington as it will spread the passengers out. Some trains are scheduled to miss stops on the western side - have you taken that into account? I noticed this on my train that was heading for Maidenhead today.
The TfL status page shows minor delays due to a fault train earlier. I wonder if this is why there was Shenfield trains 3 mins apart when I used the service earlier. Abbey Wood trains was similar with less than 5 min gaps.

Can't see it happening the same way London Overground doesn't operate and don't think it should tbh let everyone have two days off . As mentioned earlier, London Overground are operating Highbury & Isington-West Croydon on Boxing Day 26 December. Would that be, because it should be the East London line, although surprised it is going as far as West Croydon

The Shenfield line seems to be full as well. Also there is no longer a mass evacuation at Stratford on Central London bound trains. As people used to get off there for Central and Jubilee (as well as other trains). At times, more people alighted there than the Liverpool St terminus, the same could be said in evenings with people getting on at Stratford. I have noticed the train speed at certain locations is slower. From Maryland to Stratford is slow now, don't know why. Also leaving Stratford towards the new tunnels is no way as fast as it used to be. The approach to Stratford emerging from the tunnels is not as fast either. I remember there used to be some very impressive fast speed journeys to Liverpool St terminus, would miss them. On another note I thought the 315's were meant to finish a month ago. I noticed 2 still seemed to be stationed at ilford Hill sidings. Last journey in service saw was Friday 25th November morning.

I read somewhere on another forum that the trains are driven deliberately slower from Maryland to Stratford so that the trains are given more time to transition to CBTC.

This, and the reversal of trains at Paddington, are still known to have bugs. These are two of the issues that will probably be dealt with during the Christmas-New Year shutdown so that trains can be speeded up in the May 2023 timetable.

Has anyone noticed from the Abbey Wood branch when leaving Canary wharf to go to Whitechapel before the crossover it pulls in so slowly as compared to the Shenfield branch in which it pulls in faster?
Why is this?

Why is this? I've noticed it as well. The trains from Abbey Wood seem to coast into Whitechapel while the trains from Shenfield come in far quicker. Quite annoying to be honest.

Some of the drivers really used to go so slow into it from Liverpool St Doors also open automatically on platform 8 but not 5. I guess as it is still in CBTC. I took the branch to Abbey Wood yesterday. It was amazing when the train pulls off on CBTC at the outside stations, extremely rapid takeoff, It is rare for many drivers to move off this fast on the Shenfield branch, but I guess it is in manual mode; so some of them do not move off as fast.

Saw it from Platform 3 on my way to work Most of the 315's have been dragged to Newport, Wales for scrap. According to Railforums the last 315's run this coming Friday December 9. These are:- 315837 315853 315856 315857 I'd love it if Greater Anglia acquired one (in BR colours) for the Walton on the Naze branch line with its original jointed track Last train will be the 18:04 Liverpool Street to Gidea Park. I wonder if they'll attempt a fastest speed run like the Underground did with the Metropolitan Line A Stock out of Baker Street years ago?
