Awful luck for Peru there, they had many chances but none of them succeeded. I was surprised at that penalty being missed though, I guess it's what happens when you're under pressure.

I'd see that from today that South American teams aren't good for taking penalties seeing that both Argentina and Peru had missed their penalties
As for Argentina in the earlier game today, they been appalling particularly for Messi missing that penalty, however Iceland on the other hand was just brilliant. Meanwhile in Peru vs Denmark game, I think Peru had missed so many great chances especially since Paolo Guerrero came on that in the end Denmark edged over them. Anyway for Peru, let's see if their luck is better for the next 2 group stage games.
EDIT: Just watched Croatia vs Nigeria. Nigeria was just awful and Croatia fully deserved to win this game.

I agree that Nigeria were awful and the diving of Victor Moses was ridiculous.

Was it just me or did anyone else notice that a penalty was awarded in all four of today's matches? Iceland did extremely well to hold off the likes of Messi and Aguero and get the draw. I predicted that they would have had a thrashing. Looking forward to seeing Brazil and Germany in action tomorrow and England on Monday.

Argentina are pretty terrible in all honesty and have struggled for a number of years now bar the last World Cup where they staggered through to the end. Their problem is they make too many forwards and very few decent defenders or goalkeepers - I mean both Willy Cabarello & Sergio Romero are second choice at Chelsea & Man Utd. Argentina only just made it through the qualifying and were very close to not making it bar that last day win. I've recorded the highlights of the the first three games so will watch them back. I did watch the Nigeria vs Croatia match though - Nigeria were poor going forward, some decent play in the middle and they defended a bit better than against England in the recent friendly but they didn't do enough at all. That said, Croatia were only marginally better and were helped by the lack of a proper go by Nigeria at the Croatian defence. I can see Croatia pulling off a shock win against Argentina as Croatia will no doubt raise their game against a bigger team and Argentina are very suspect.

I noticed that as well, I was expecting for Argentina to win by one or two goals but not more than that given Iceland are a good team since Euro 2016.
Also have anyone noticed that South American teams missed their penalties whereas other teams have scored from penalty spot when they have given a penalty as well.

Peru were probably looking better than Denmark for a majority of the time. But were very poor right in front of the goal. The missed penalty was there, of course; but there were numerous other occasions when they just couldn’t show enough enterprise for the final shot

I was surprised at Argentina's stats against Iceland. Argentina were much more superior in their performance yet sadly it wasn't reflected in the results, otherwise it would've been a different scenario especially with all those missed shots. This goes to show how well Iceland held their own on the pitch with their strong defence, still equalising despite their inferior stats.

Argentina are a so so team and are too top heavy - talented going forward, midfield is acceptable but the defence & goalkeeper are poor. For some reason, they just don't make good keepers or defenders anymore. Portugal had the same issue with strikers after Pauleta retired but they just threw Ronaldo up there until Eder came along and currently they have two promising strikers in Guedes & Andre Silva.

Just watched the Serbia Costa Rica game - Serbia were slightly the better team but didn’t create a lot and won with a lovely free kick from Kolarov. Costa Rica arguably had the two best chances with two free headers in the first half

Oh dear, the Germans have lost their opening game in a tournament since Algeria beat them in 1982. Mexico played brilliantly and deserved to win - they cut Germany to pieces at times.

I thought before the match started that this would be a clear victory for Germany but I agree, I'm surprised that Mexico didn't actually score any more goals the rate that game was going!

I expected Germany to win as well but they’ve struggled since qualifying for the World Cup and they look very stale. I still think they’ll beat South Korea & Sweden although Sweden did beat Italy to qualify and they also beat France in the qualifying group as well.
