I thought the Germans were very average - a far cry from the winners last time out. I still think they’ll qualify for the second round but not sure they’ll make it too far into the tournament

I thought before the match started that this would be a clear victory for Germany but I agree, I'm surprised that Mexico didn't actually score any more goals the rate that game was going! I expected Germany to win as well but they’ve struggled since qualifying for the World Cup and they look very stale. I still think they’ll beat South Korea & Sweden although Sweden did beat Italy to qualify and they also beat France in the qualifying group as well. Germany looked awful (and maybe a touch arrogant; where was the defence??). If the Mexicans had finished better, this would have been5-0

Like others I was expecting a Germany victory, but they were average at best for throughout the game and Mexico deserved to win plus defended well enough to keep the lead.
Also, that free kick from Kolarov against Costa Rica was just brilliant.

I think Germany will be in the last four but come up just short.

If your talking about England, they’ll be lucky to get past the round of 16 - they’re an overhyped and overrated bunch of players IMO.

Hands up who thought between them Germany and Brazil would only get one solitary point today? Very well done to both Mexico and Switzerland

Very well done to both Mexico and Switzerland I think you would have got pretty good odds on that, certainly Mexico's win was fully deserved indeed they could have won more comfortably. Switzerland rode their luck a bit and I'm surprised their goal stood, there was a clear push in the back on a Brazil player but referee's do seem to be letting a lot of things go. We've still not had a 0-0 yet, I hope I'm not tempting fate!

Yay so glad this thread exists!!
Morocco - Iran was the closest to a 0-0 so far I don't think we will see a 0-0 until the knock out phase

I'm surprised that VAR was needed for the Sweden penalty, it was a clear foul, otherwise a pretty uneventful game.
Not many England flags on cars in evidence today!

I imagine after that defeat in the Euros two years ago by Iceland all the fans are playing it safe this time around The first half of the Panama vs Belgium game has been pretty boring. Even the commentators ended up talking about the weather and the history of the referee instead of what was actually going on.

Sure there will be a goal in the second half. Possibly another VAR penalty ...

Sure there will be a goal in the second half. Possibly another VAR penalty ... Indeed it has, with Belgium grabbing three goals with two from Lukaku and a wonder strike from Mertens , but do feel for Panama though as they have been brilliant in first half and push Belgium to their limits.
Anyway, Come On England!!!

Anyway, Come On England!!! 3-0 gave me a perfect score in my prediction competition so I'm very happy. Just need an England win to complete my day now ...
Belgium seemed very lethargic in the first half. Glad they improved in the second.
