The park the bus tactics have worked so far, it's still been more entertaining than the previous two matches today. The Iran play acting isn't fun though. Glad Spain have now scored. Every time Costa scores it makes my blood boil, especially at the fact that Conte forced him to leave Chelsea and that effectively wrote off Chelsea's season, but at least it shows Conte what he has been missing all season though!

Diego Costa is a great player on his day but a lot of 'baggage' comes with him and he was involved in some nonsense with the Iran goalkeeper today although the keeper certainly made the most of it.

Iran did themselves proud with their two performances and even though they are out, they can at least say they gave it a go and go home with their heads held high.

There's still far too much play acting going on despite FIFA supposedly clamping down on it. Pepe collapsing on the floor after being patted on the back was just ridiculous, bought back memories of this from 2002: m.youtube.com/watch?v=c17aeF7JxAg

In all fairness, you can't really blame them - the gulf between them & Spain is huge so they have to do what they can to close that gap because they certainly can't play expansive football as they'd be thrashed to pieces. Spain have been guilty of ridiculous play acting for years as have Spanish players at Barcelona & Real Madrid - nearly every team does it anyway.

He got up very quickly though - remarkable recovery!

Denmark were very disappointing against Australia - after going 1-0 up through a superb Christian Eriksen goal and playing well for the first 10 minutes or so, they decided to stop playing and Australia came back into it and deserved their point in the end - I was impressed with them, lots of work ethic and the 19 year old who came on in the 2nd half looks a talent.

I thought Australia played well after a shaky start and fully deserved a point, slightly dubious penalty although the Danish player did have his arm in what could be construed an unnatural position.

France are now though to the last 16, but I'd think they should have been dominating in their first two games rather than scraping out to get the wins they needed, however I'd suppose that they least get the job done.
Peru are now out of World Cup, But I do feel sorry of their fans though as they have been tremendous despite losing their first two games.

That was a somewhat violent first half between Croatia and Argentina. The referee should have used the VAR on a few occasions but chose not to. Hopefully someone scores in the second half though.

The Argies are now on the brink of elimination, I didn't see that scoreline coming although take nothing away from Croatia who looked very impressive

Argentina and Peru, yes; even Brazil weren’t really impressive. Let’s see what happens going forward
