Standing arrangements (from what I saw signposted in Kingston today): 71, 111, 285, 465 - Birkenhead Avenue 216, 411, 481 - Kingston Station K1 - Fairfield Bus Station 406 and 418 are presumably standing at Sury Basin but I didn't see any signs for them. K1 gains some time then.

The K1 is an interesting one. Presumably it’s coming down to College Roundabout to turn back up Wheatfield Way to serve the first stop on Eden Street. There’s no way it could tear across two lanes of busy traffic. It’s hard enough sometimes to get an opening for the left hand turn out of Fairfield into the bus stops there.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was cutting across the two lanes to turn right, it has enough space to do this since it won't be serving the pick up point after turning out of the bus station like the 57/131/213 do.

Those lanes are really busy though, it’d have to be timed perfectly.

Farewell, Cromwell Road Bus Station 1.0. You served us surprisingly well for many years (especially given the constraints of the site!), and I raise a glass to you 🍷 ...but even so, I still look forward to the arrival of v2.0 next year. It would be nice to see Fairfield Bus Station get a refresh too. Currently, it's nothing more than a miserable collection of bus stops and ventilation shafts next to a bus stand. There's clearly an opportunity to introduce a bit of design flair here (or even to reflect the design of the new Cromwell Road Bus Station), and there's clearly plenty of room to improve the overall passenger experience.

I have a feeling it will get done when and if the cattle market ever gets redeveloped. There have been various discussions over the years to replace it and now with the new global HQ for Unilever opening soon and the Lidl UK HQ not too far away in Tolworth it would make sense to do sooner rather than later. Redeveloping Canbury Place would also be wise as well. That would still leave 4 large car parks in Kingston. Perhaps a return of the K50 could be mooted if there wasn’t enough space at Christmas.

The two new buildings on the far west and east of the site have been quickly progressing and have been surrounded by scaffold for many weeks. The first of the many arches in the bus station was erected today, located towards the eastern area of the site.

The arches that were installed to the Eastern area of the bus station have been dismantled and removed for some unknown reason. However two arches were being installed today near the centre of the site.
