Personally, I don't think in general that South London's bus network needs a radical rethink that multiple routes need restructuring - instead, it needs certain extensions or certain links created to fill in certain gaps - more of a tinker if anything. There are some good ideas in this thread by different people though but I just hope it doesn't turn into a "must change every route sort of thing" because that's the last thing South London needs.

202 to serve Bell Green retail park would be my pick. Not a massive change, easily added, plus extra mileage for route with only 3-4 minutes loss of time and would help the occasional 181 overcrowding.

It's a shame that so many of these retail parks have been designed and built without sufficient thought to how they can be served by bus. Too often you have to make a lengthy double run which is profoundly irritating to the through passenger. My recent tour of the backwoods of Beckton on a 366 was an eyeopener.

Yeah it sucks from that passenger perspective, especially when you go in Bell Green and they also do a live changeover, basically sucks to be that person who could of just got off the bus to just walk to next bus stop. But some of these spaces like Bell Green were not that crowded and had no live changeovers when it was just Sainsburys, but as the retail parks grow there is more demand. It's already busy as is with PC worlds and mcdonalds and sainsburys, but now they're opening Aldi there soon so I can guarantee you there will be more traffic and more passengers. From TFL's point of view, they love that because that's money for them, it's kind of like Lewisham high street (market) going towards Lewisham Station, at 8AM in the morning the buses are just stuck in line as far as the 'rock' the 'Ladywell' roundabout when people are just trying to go Lewisham station. Walking time is basically 10 minutes, but buses will take 15-20 minutes to get to station from that point.
Sometimes I think to myself, would be interesting to see how 'joker' laps would work on some specific times at least to serve some double run roads and going straight through when there on low demand hours.

208 or 261 extended to Greenwich/North Greenwich Withdraw 89 from Slade Green, and replace that section with a 269 extension over that section with a further extension to Erith, the N89 however will still serve this section Make the 269 a 24 hour route at weekends, there’s plenty going on in Bexleyheath, Sidcup and Bromley to warrant this A new bus route between Woolwich and Canary Wharf via Blackwall Tunnel, people will say there’s CrossRail or the Jubilee line but bus travel is handy and cheaper for those less well off As the N53 looks set to return they may as well extend via its old stomping ground back in the day, to give Upper Belvedere and Bostall Heath a night service again N177 to replace N1 east of Deptford 208 and 261 are both long enough as they are. A Bromley-North Greenwich route may work though, 129 extension. What would your N177 look like? If it were to be the same as the day one I think removing the N1's connections to a connection to Peckham is a terrible move

And a seven day a week N422 extended to Dartford and maybe DV Hospital? Not much point going to Bluewater in the middle of the night. The advantage over the more obvious N96 is that it serves the Bedonwell area.

Selfish reasons I’d like it to terminate at Greenhithe Station !

Withdraw 89 from Slade Green, and replace that section with a 269 extension over that section with a further extension to Erith, the N89 however will still serve this section I don’t want two routes to Sidcup, thanks! 229 is plenty! If you have to play around with the Slade Green end of the 89, either split it in two, Lewisham-Bexleyheath and Welling-Slade Green, or enhance the B16 to embrace 89 frequencies, double deck it and extend it to Slade Green, cutting the 89 back to Bexleyheath Garage. On balance though, I’d rather like to keep my 89, thanks! Well In the event the 89 should be split into two, then the Slade Green End could run to Kidbrooke Village

Well In the event the 89 should be split into two, then the Slade Green End could run to Kidbrooke Village The B16 already does that from a similar area: see my above post about enhancing the B16. I still on balance think it best to leave the 89 alone.

I think there should be more than just the 108 connecting East & South East London via the Blackwall Tunnel.

I think there should be more than just the 108 connecting East & South East London via the Blackwall Tunnel. Think there needs to be more bridges/tunnels linking East London to South East London, like the Belvedere Bridge for example.

I think there should be more than just the 108 connecting East & South East London via the Blackwall Tunnel. I think something via the Dartford Crossing is a bigger priority, Bexleyheath to Lakeside for example.
