I have a few night route ideas hope you like them.
So there are currently routes paralleling night tube, and I think there should be a lil bit of rerouting.
N155: Withdrawn between Aldwych & Trafalgar Square and Withdrawn between South Wimbledon & Morden and rerouted via Route 655 to Merton Park Baptist Church and then 152 to New Malden and then Route 265 to Tolworth Broadway.
N320: New route from Ruislip Common to Trafalgar Square
Route H13 to Ruislip, Route 114 to Northolt Park, Route 487 to Gypsy Corner, Route 95 to Shepherds Bush, Route N207 to Oxford Circus, Route N113 to Trafalgar Square and terminate on Whitehall[ like the N20 are practically dead, but what's the usage like on the N113?

Morden still needs night bus via all the northern line stations Sunday to Thursday. I guess but it's down to South Wimbledon and isn't the 93 24 hour?

I don't think that's why it is numbered N20 It's numbered N20 because it's a night service for the Northern Line between Charing Cross and High Barnet. It could've still been the N1 which it originally was up untill 1995 IF the N1 number wasn't needed for the night service of the day route 1.

The N5 and N20 are lingering from the days when night routes were simply assigned low numbers. It was only really in the mid 90s that corresponding day numbers were matched more. N90 become the N279, N68 the N155, N78 the N109 etc. The N2 and N3 were early ones to have something in common with the day routes.

Indeed and even then, some still lingered on for a bit more like the N50, N70, N81, N84 which all had nothing in common with the day counterparts - the N50 survived much longer than the others until the N550 & N551 was introduced as replacements.

I remember the same with the original N87 loop, which was replaced by the N155 & N133, and N88 replaced by the N44.

That's slightly different, it goes to the postcode N20. If you are starting a new route surely you can find another number for it? I don't think that's why it is numbered N20 Believe it or not, the N20 number was indeed inspired by the postcode for Whetstone. When first introduced, the Northern Line night bus routes were numbered N1 and N5 because they very vaguely followed the A1 and A5 roads. When the N1 number was needed for a night route based on the 1, N20 was chosen because N20 was the northernmost London postcode on the route - and probably also because it was thought unlikely that there'd be a night route based on the 20.
In 2008 there was a proposal to renumber the N5 and N20 with N5xx numbers (presumably N97 would also have been done?). Thankfully this gratuitous renumbering never happened, but the two routes that replaced the N50 did get N5xx numbers.

That's a very good account ! A1 and A5. Is this the first time bus routes were numbered after roads?
