The government must see something in it.

I think they are all long built (not sure if all delivered) but are waiting for the fuelling facilities to be completed at Perivale.

Makes sense, GB is currently at the forefront of fuel cell technology - this has been widely stated by Wrightbus with the acknowledgement that Li-ion technology is all Chinese now - should of never privatised British Rail in that regard. It makes sense to invest now.

Would just be to have the hydrogen buses on the road that are currently sat idle to give a proper test of the technology.

If these are where Ballard intend to manufacture all the cells then the promised ADL Hybrids for Liverpool and any future orders from either manufacturer will probably result in US built cells.

Noticed that the 7s WHDs have a quite bold sign right near the front door saying "HYDROGEN TANKS FITTED, VEHICLE MUST REMAIN OUTDOORS"
While we could argue forever about the sign being located in arguably the worst place for possible passenger confidence, if Hydrogen buses can't actually go indoors how will they be maintained? Then you have the issue that if this has to continually be the case it just won't be a viable solution for most operators both long and short term. Garages like DS have a large outdoor space, but then garages like BW, T, HT, UX, SW which are almost fully undercover would probably not be able to operate these vehicles.

I assume the current concern is that of the unknown and extreme caution being taken to prevent any foreseen catastrophe. The reality is, that once this technology becomes mainstream attitudes will change and more importantly than anything confidence through education will increase.

The ones I saw didn't have the notices at all, so assume it's a temporary thing only when the vehicles are new as the RV1 hasn't had these notices in regular service either I believe
