The 266 was cut back from Hammersmith for reliability reasons so I don’t think any extension, especially at both ends together, would be feasible IMO Alright, it’s because during the Brent Cross Town Bus Consultation, people have suggested that 266 goes back it’s restored terminus (Hammersmith) and TFL have somewhat considered it. But extending to Millbrook Park would definitely be useful as it least it provides a direct link between Cricklewood & Hendon Central and Brent Cross Shopping Centre & Mill Hill East development areas. I don't think the 266 would be the best route for any extension. The best I could think of is rerouting the 240 via Brent Cross although I think that wouldn't be a great idea.

What do you guys think if the 266 extended to Mill Hill East/Millbrook Park via Hendon Central, Middlesex University and Mill Hill East Station and was restored as a 24 hour route starting from Hammersmith? The 266 was cut back from Hammersmith for reliability reasons so I don’t think any extension, especially at both ends together, would be feasible IMO I think the only extension that should happen is the 266 and 306 swapping termini to provide some better coverage in Acton. Agree otherwise.

Reading the consultation report and the section regarding the 266, there were two separate comments regarding reliability & longer journeys and that was regarding a tiny route change at Brent Cross as well as the comment regarding Hammersmith - now I don't agree with that given it's rather tiny change so shouldn't case too much trouble but if people are worried about that, iamgine trying to extend to somewhere like Millbrook Park? What should be noted about that comment is it reads like a wishlist: "Suggest extending the 266 to: • Hammersmith bus station • Heathrow Airport • North Finchley bus station" There is no realistic chance of a Heathrow Airport extension and very unlikely for North Finchley either. TfL's response was rather generic as I expected so I don't think it automatically points to a consideration even if TfL say they will: "These suggestions have been noted and will be considered as part of our ongoing review of the bus network"

These kinds of links are addressed in the Edgware and Colindale/Western Barnet Network Development Papers - e.g. with the diversion of 303 to Mill Hill East, the reshaping of 186 and proposed new 239 route linking Mill Hill, Colindale and Brent Cross Town.

Whilst I would like to see the 266 back at Hammersmith, it is better in its current form. Plus if the route did go back, then what would be of the 218/306? the combined frequency of the 218/266/306 is too much for the Acton-Hammersmith corridor, so it's better leaving those routes as they are. If a link between Brent Cross and Mill Hill East is needed, then just extend the 382 to Brent Cross, or even Brent Cross West with a minor frequency bump.

Maybe the 460 could be diverted in the Cricklewood area as a lot of its route is largely covered by 260 already. Not many connections would be lost as passengers can just change at Golders Green for the 13 which would go up to Nort Finchley

Brent Park Bus Changes:
16: Extended to Wembley, First Way (new direct links between the north of Kilburn High Road, Cricklewood and Wembley Stadium would be created by this small extension as well as creating space for the 232 terminus at Brent Park)
232: Curtailed to Brent Park, Superstores (So it can be eligible to be operated as a double decker route, interchange for 224 or 440 at Brent Park to St Raphael’s)
440: Extended to St Raphael’s (new link created between Wembley Stadium and St Raphael’s which will benefit residents living in St Raphael’s)
Let me know your thoughts on this.

245: extended from Alperton Sainsbury’s to Perivale via Glacier Way, Athlon Road, Manor Farm Road, Alperton Lane, Priory Gardens, Hanger Lane Gyratory, Western Avenue, Argyle Road, Teignmouth Gardens and Biddeford Avenue. To link the Sainsbury’s with the KFC, Costa and Aldi. To also link Priory Gardens with Western Avenue.

I’m certainly in support of the 245 extension to Perivale, but I think it should just continue running down Ealing Road/Priory Gardens (A4005) towards Hanger Lane Gyratory instead of turning at Glacier Way, Athlon Road, Manor Farm Road and Alperton Lane. But other than that, I like your idea sending the 245 through Western Avenue, Argyle Road, Teignmouth Gardens and Biddeford Avenue to get to Perivale.

Looking at the recent Uxbridge bus changes, I think it may be worth revisiting the old proposal to restructure the U1, U2 and the U7 routes with the U1 replacing the U7 from Uxbridge allowing users for a frequency in double than what's provided currently as well as rerouting the U2 south to West Drayton bringing additional capacity between Hillingdon Hospital and West Drayton.
From what was proposed that could've allowed the U3 and U1 merged into one route as well the U2 extending to the station. It was disappointing to see the U7 left out of the proposals on what can see a major improvement than its abysmal 30 minute frequency. Something at which TfL very often overlooks on how its frequency easily deters users away in particular in an urban dense area like London.

The people of Uxbridge have spoken though and they made it clear that on the whole, they were happy with the U1, U2 & U3 as they are. I also personally think a merger of the U1 & U3 isn’t a particularly brilliant idea - whilst running time would be max 90 minutes overall, I don’t think it makes sense to increase running time on what are very localised routes in comparison to more trunk orientated routes - the U network routes should remain max 1h end to end IMO. Regarding the U7, I agree it needs a frequency increase of some sort and surprised that hasn’t been addressed at all.

Something at which TfL very often overlooks on how its frequency easily deters users away in particular in an urban dense area like London. I agree the U1/U3 merger was never the best idea - the U3 would be made longer and less reliable, and no real advantage other than removing the overlap with the U1. It wouldn't really encourage any new journey opportunities with the 278 available, plus from Ruislip/Ickenham/etc it's quicker anyway to change for the A10 to Heathrow. If more capacity is needed on the U1, then just convert to DDs or increase the frequency. With the U1 though, I think there is more potential at the Ruislip end to provide some new links (and also relieving stand space at Ruislip Station). My idea would be to create a new route replacing most of the E7 and U1, operating between Uxbridge and Greenford Broadway - introducing a direct link from Uxbridge to South Ruislip and Yeading. A revised E6 could maybe then go from Hayes to Ealing Broadway (via Greenford), replacing the rest of the E7. Though I think the Bulls Bridge section might be better served by another route - either divert the 195 via Cranford Drive, extend the 350 to Bulls Bridge, or extend the H28 to Hayes & Harlington. Also to provide stand space at Greenford Broadway, could ideally extend the E1 or E2 to Greenford Station (or Greenford Quay). And with the U1's links across Uxbridge, could consider swapping the 278/U2 termini after Hillingdon? A revised U2 could then cover links across Hillingdon (avoiding Uxbridge), from Ruislip to West Drayton, via Hillingdon Station and Hillingdon Hospital. (and the 278 going to Uxbridge via Hercies Road). I think TFL's previous proposal for the U1/U7 merger could have worked, but the U7 could have more potential to extend at the Hayes end (with a frequency increase to every 15 regardless), therefore should continue to terminate at Uxbridge. One option could be to extend to Hayes & Harlington, then going east through new developments to Southall - in place of introducing the 495. Or alternatively the U7 could extend from Hayes Asda to Southall Station via the 427 (4tph may be enough for this link) - then allowing the 427 to return further east along Uxbridge Road. Not necessary back to Acton again, but could terminate at Ealing Broadway once the E1 frees up stand space there?
