Had some ideas about how to restructure the bus network in Central London, happy to hear any feedback/opinions whether good or bad: 4 Waterloo to Archway (8bph DD) Withdrawn between St Paul's and Blackfriars, and extended to Waterloo via the current 59/old 521 routing. Frequency increased from 6bph to 8bph. 14 Warren Street to Putney Common (8bph DD) Withdrawn between TCR and Russell Square and re-extended to Warren Street via its old routing. Frequency increased slightly from 7.5bph to 8bph based on its planned frequency. 19 Withdrawn (replaced by 4, 22, 82 and the existing very high frequency on the 38). 22 Piccadilly Circus to Putney Common (6bph DD) Withdrawn between Green Park and Oxford Circus and re-extended to Piccadilly Circus via its old routing. 53 Trafalgar Square to Plumstead (8bph DD) Re-extended from Lambeth North to Trafalgar Square via its old routing. Frequency increased slightly from 7.5bph to 8bph. 59 Euston to Clapham Park (7.5bph DD) Withdrawn between Holborn and St Barts Hospital (replaced by 4) and re-extended to Euston via its old routing. 82 Parliament Hill Fields to Battersea Bridge (6bph DD) New route following the 88 between Parliament Hill Fields and Oxford Circus, 22 to Hyde Park Corner and 19 to Battersea Bridge. Runs at 6bph using DDs. 88 Marylebone to Clapham Common (6bph DD) Withdrawn between Great Portland Street and Parliament Hill Fields (replaced by 82) and extended to Marylebone via current 453. 134 Tottenham Court Road to North Finchley (7.5bph DD) Re-extended to TCR via its old routing. 172 Aldwych to Brockley Rise (8bph DD) Frequency increased from 6bph to 8bph. 453 Withdrawn (replaced by 53, 88, 172 and new "Bakerloop" route). Night service changes linked to the above: 4 - 24 hour service added running at 2bph on all days of the week. N9 - frequency doubled to 4bph on all days of the week. 19 - withdrawn (replaced by 4, 22 and 82). N22 - diverted to Piccadilly Circus to match the daytime 22. 53 - Re-converted to a 24 hour service, running at 4bph to Deptford Bridge with alternate buses to Plumstead on Sun-Thu, and 6bph to Deptford Bridge with alternate buses to Plumstead on Fri/Sat. N53 - withdrawn (replaced by 53). 82 - new route with night service running at 2bph all days of the week. 319 - night service added running at 2bph all days of the week. 453 - withdrawn (replaced by 53). Some interesting ideas that I mostly agree with. I think the 4 suggestion is fine but it would be another route across Waterloo Bridge so something else would probably have to be cut. The 14 and 134 suggestion would put more buses on Tottenham Court Road so I don't think TfL would sanction that. I agree about the 22. If the 453 was withdrawn I think the 53 would have to return to Oxford Circus. I agree about the 82, nice way of covering the western end of the 19 and part of the 88. I agree about rerouting the 88 to Marylebone. If the 59 was withdrawn from Barts it would probably terminate at Holborn, I don't think TfL would sanction returning it to Euston. I think an N4 would be better to Trafalgar Square rather than Waterloo. I agree about increasing the N9. Maybe an N82 to Streatham Hill rather than a night service on the 319?

West & Central London changes: 7 - rerouted between Queensway and Dalgarno Gardens via route 23 to Ladbroke Grove Sainsburys, and route 70 to Dalgarno Gardens. 23 - withdrawn (use route 452 instead between WP and Sainsburys, or 7 between Sainsburys and Marble Arch, or 36 between Queensway and HPC). 70 - rerouted between Ladbroke Grove Station and Dalgarno Gardens via Oakworth Road replacing the mini section from route 7. 452 - permanently rerouted to Westbourne Park Station via route 23 from Sainsburys. No longer restored to Kensal Rise. I don’t think enough demand is there for an Aldwych link or even via Green Park from Edgware Road is needed, and this is really enough, the 9 is also available as a switch from HPC and just reroutes on 3 other routes is enough, but if so and debatable aswell: 6 - rerouted to Aldwych from HPC via Green Park, Piccadilly, TSQ, Covent Garden to Aldwych. Use 36 from Edgware Road, Queen’s Park or Marble Arch to Victoria instead. If cuts have to be made somewhere then this is certainly a good set of changes. What about increasing the 9 instead of rerouting the 6?

Hopper Fare gets you in enough time to catch the 36 down from HPC or even 452 aswell.

Some pretty new and interesting ideas here that I like, not sure though that the Bakerloop is adequate replacement for the 453 on its own. I'd say an extra route would be needed along the Old Kent Road, not sure what though, what about 415 extended to Deptford Bridge? I believe the 415 is planned to be extended to Surrey Canal Road if and when that station opens, so that would take it a bit further down OKR, but I don't think sending it all the way down to Deptford Bridge would work. I think the increases on the 53 and 172 along with the "Bakerloop" should do enough to cover for the loss of the 453, assuming that the Bakerloop runs every 10 minutes at a bare minimum. Ideally the Bakerloop would actually go a bit further inwards than E&C too, maybe to Trafalgar Square via Waterloo and the Strand, but I don't think TfL would ever allow that due to it duplicating the Bakerloo Line.

I think the 4/59 changes can work without cutting another Waterloo Bridge route, since there are a lot of savings made from other changes such as the withdrawal of the 19 and 453. The 59 only going to Holborn is fine but ideally I would restore it all the way to Euston. I don't think 53 to Oxford Circus is feasible anymore with traffic, the route is long enough as it is so I think Trafalgar Square is probably as far as the route can go. The 12 retains the link from E&C to Oxford Circus, and it is a simple same stop interchange from the 53 to the 12/88/159 to get to Oxford Circus as well. I was thinking about having an N82 to Streatham Hill instead of a 24 hour 319, but I think Parliament Hill Fields to Streatham Hill might be a bit too long even for a night route. N4 to TSQ is a good idea I hadn't considered, that could work quite well.

A Parliament Hill Fields to Streatham Hill night service doesn't really add anything that South London already has and the new links to North London aren't really places South Londoners want to travel at night. The 319 getting a 24 hour service would be more suitable overall and a lot cheaper too. I'd like to see the 415 go to Lewisham instead of the Bakerloop service which would bring a lot of new links and would be achievable given the 415 faces little congestion along it's route owing to the majority of the route having bus lanes or a quieter corridor like Tulse Hill to navigate

I think the suggested 82 would be ok to Streatham Hill at night, probably not much more than an hour end to end. I've often thought the N19 should go to Streatham Hill rather than a night service on the 319 which stops short of Central London.

Superloop/Express route ideas:
New route SL(18) - Harrow Bus Station to Maida Hill, The Chippenham via route 182 to Sudbury, Harrow Road, route 18 to Elgin Avenue and route 228 to The Chippenham. This will allow the 18 to be supported whilst also retaining its complete route from Euston to Sudbury and also support the busy 182 up to Harrow.
Stopping at Harrow Bus Station, Northwick Park Hospital, Sudbury and Harrow Road Station, Wembley Central, Wembley Triangle (for Wembley Stadium, Stonebridge Park Station/Point Place, Harlesden Town Centre, Willesden Junction and Kensal Green before terminating at Maida Hill.
SL9 - Extended from Harrow Bus Station to Harrow Weald to allow users a much faster alternative to Harrow Weald and will reconnect Harrow Weald to Heathrow whilst supporting the 140. This would also free up stand space at Harrow for the SL(18).
Stopping at Harrow and Wealdstone and Harrow Weald Bus Garage.
SL(95) - Ruislip Station to Notting Hill Gate via route E7 to Greenford Broadway, 95 to Shepherd's Bush and route 94 to Notting Hill Gate. This will relieve some of the loads on the Central Line and allow local users a cheaper and quicker alternative than the Oxford Tube.
Stopping at Ruislip Gardens, Station Approach/South Ruislip Station, Yeading White Hart (for Northolt), Greenford Broadway (for Greenford Station), South Greenford Station, Teignmouth Gardens (for Perivale), Hanger Lane, Park Royal, North Acton (southbound) and Acton Main Lane (northbound), Savoy Circus (for East Acton), White City Station (for Wood Lane and bus station), Shepherd's Bush Green before running express to Notting Hill Gate.

The 453 always seems to be the busiest route crossing Westminster Bridge on my daily commutes. Think a lot of 'through passengers' will be lost if a replacement doesn't go past Trafalgar Square to Oxford Circus.
14 and 134, nice to have, won't happen sadly.
No replacement for the British Museum (or are we assuming pedestrianisation?)?

Hyde Park Corner Buses Changes: 19: Finsbury Park - Victoria (withdrawn between Hyde Park Corner and Battersea Bridge, rerouted to Victoria) 73: Stoke Newington - Victoria (extended to Victoria) 390: Battersea Bridge - Archway (rerouted/extended to Battersea Bridge, withdrawn between Hyde Park Corner and Victoria)
The curtailment of 19 is to help with its reliability and the 390 extension is to create new links such as Sloane Square & Tottenham Court Road, Kings Cross & Sloane Square, Kings Cross & Battersea Bridge.

I think the 19 is a good example of how routes of this length can be operated perfectly well, the case against it is that much of it duplicates the 22 and 38.
