So with the prospect of a Superloop 'phase 2' in mind lets get the crayons out.... New route: SL11 - Chessington to Ealing: This would be a new route from Chessington to Ealing:Stopping at: Chessington South Station, Copt Gilders, Hook Parade, Surbiton Station, Kingston University, Eden Street, Kingston Station, Ham Parade, Petersham Fox & Duck, George Street, Richmond Station, Kew Gardens/Lion Gate, Kew Bridge Station, Watermans Centre, Great West Road, South Ealing Station, University of West London & Christ Church Operating at the standard 5bph Monday-Saturday daytimes and 4bph Sunday's and evenings using double deckers. Accompanying this:Route 71 withdrawn. Route 65 withdrawn between Richmond Station and Ealing, diverted to Manor Circus. Extended from Kingston to Chessington via the 71 route. Reduced to 5bph Monday-Saturday daytimes and 4bph Sunday's and evenings. Route E9 extended from Ealing Broadway to Osterley as planned for the E1. No changes to vehicle type or frequency. Route E1 extended from Ealing Broadway to Richmond, Bus Station. Peak frequency reduced to 6bph, evening frequency increased to 5bph and Sunday frequency reduced to 5bph. Route H37 diverted to Pools-on-the-Park, route 490 switched to Manor Circus and converted to double decker. Generally imo this is nice, but I wouldn’t bother sending the route through Copt Gilders - start at WoA then go straight to Hook Parade. I’d also do away with both the stops between Kew Bridge Station and South Ealing. I don’t really like the associated changes I’m afraid, with the exception of the H37/490 alteration which I think is a really nice idea. Completely different tack, I have long wondered about an extension of the 85 to Seething Wells, if space can be found alongside the KU routes to terminate it. It would solve the long wondered about Portsmouth Road TfL bus issue without sending a route over the Surrey border.

Let’s say the Belvedere Bridge/Tunnel gets constructed, and you need to implement bus services to better connect the two sides of the Thames. How would you do it? Change existing routes? Create a new route? I’d like to hear some suggestions. Where exactly would the tunnel/bridge be placed? I’d like to know that first before making changes to existing routes/creating new routes. Regardless I would probably extend 1 route from the south, 1 from the north & introduce an express route running between Bexleyheath & Romford.

New route: SL11 - Chessington to Ealing: This would be a new route from Chessington to Ealing:Stopping at: Chessington South Station, Copt Gilders, Hook Parade, Surbiton Station, Kingston University, Eden Street, Kingston Station, Ham Parade, Petersham Fox & Duck, George Street, Richmond Station, Kew Gardens/Lion Gate, Kew Bridge Station, Watermans Centre, Great West Road, South Ealing Station, University of West London & Christ Church Operating at the standard 5bph Monday-Saturday daytimes and 4bph Sunday's and evenings using double deckers. New route: SL12 - Heathrow Central to Putney Bridge: This would be a new route from Heathrow to Putney:Stopping at Hatton Cross, Teddington Broad Street, Kingston Wood Street, Kingston Station, Norbiton Church, Kingston Hospital, Kingston University, Roehampton Vale Asda, Roehampton Medfield Street, Putney Heath, Putney Station, Putney Exchange and Putney Pier Operating at the standard 5bph Monday-Saturday daytimes and 4bph Sunday's and evenings using double deckers. Accopanying this:Route 430 withdrawn Route 85 reduced in frequency to 5bph Monday-Saturday daytimes and 4bph Sunday's and evenings, extended to South Kensington via route 430. Route 170 increased in frequency to 8bph Route SL7 withdrawn between Kingston and Heathrow. Extended to Crystal Palace, stopping at Thornton Heath Talbot Road, Selhurst Park Stadium/Clifton Road, All Saints Church and Westow Street. Additional stop at Purley Way/Waddon Station. Increased to operate at 5bph Monday-Saturday daytimes. Route 443 to instead be numbered route 497. Route 403 extended via 410 route to Wallington and increased to 4bph Sunday's and evenings Route 410 withdrawn between West Croydon and Wallington Like Superloop itself, this post might be back for a phase2.... I have to say that I don't particularly like your SL11 idea. The actual route itself is quite good but the accompanying changes would be very detrimental. Firstly, the proposals would represent a frequency decrease between Richmond and Kingston, which is very well used, so much so that extending route 71 along part or all of it is suggested every couple of months in this thread. Additionally the SL11 wouldn't cater for journeys to or from intermediate stops so, for many journeys, the frequency would effectively be 5bph. Additionally, the SL11 wouldn't stop at Tiffin Girls School and the 65 is hugely well used by school children to and from there. Your proposals would also have quite a similar impact along the northern section route 65. Again this section is very well used and does merit an all stop service at the current frequency. In fact, as with the southern section, it needs additional support, without reducing the frequency of route 65 as would be provided by the E1 extension to Osterley. Adding a route to this northern section would be very useful, perhaps more so than along the southern section, but not at the expense of route 65. I would also fear that the reliability of routes E1 and E9 north of Ealing would be severely affected by their respective extensions.
Additionally, nit-picking now, but the SL11 should call at Victoria Gate as opposed to Lion Gate this is where there is more demand. Similarly it would be better to stop at The Dysart as opposed to Petersham / Fox and Duck. With route SL12 I can't really see it being very well used. I don't see the need to remove route SL7 from Heathrow especially as it's cross Kingston links are fairly well used. Route 85 already provides a fast link between Kingston and Putney and the SL12 would have a minimal impact on journey times. The new merged route 85 and 430 would also need to serve Dover House Road, as otherwise it would be left unserved. Also I can't really comment much on this but the extended SL7 would probably be too long to be workable. I would imagine that traffic to Crystal Palace from Croydon is very severe and the new SL7 would be longer than the current route which is already extremely long.
Some amendments I came up with specifically for the proposed SL11: Route to operate between Chessington & Ealing Broadway, via 71 to Kingston, 65 to Kew Bridge, A406 to Ealing Common & Uxbridge Road to Ealing Broadway. Routes 65 & 71 to remain as they are now.

Completely different tack, I have long wondered about an extension of the 85 to Seething Wells, if space can be found alongside the KU routes to terminate it. It would solve the long wondered about Portsmouth Road TfL bus issue without sending a route over the Surrey border. This could work well, or equally the 371 could extend south. However presumably buses would need to continue a bit further than Seething Wells to turn around? Could a Kingston - Surbiton - Hampton Court link work perhaps, which wouldn't go that far over the border?

It would solve the long wondered about Portsmouth Road TfL bus issue without sending a route over the Surrey border. I completely agree with this and have even suggested it myself before. It wouldn't be able to terminate alongside the KU routes though as they terminate inside the university halls of residence, but potentially TfL could purchase a small section of land from the university to install a turning circle on Portsmouth Road. Another solution could be for the route to run further along Portsmouth Road (over the London border but not far) to The Angel Inn pub where there is a triangle perfect for a bus stand (providing a couple of trees were trimmed).

I’m not sure I’m seeing the point of extending a TfL route to Seething Wells. The K3 doesn’t run that far away and there isn’t really much there. The halls of residence which is really the only thing there is already served by the KU routes which are free to anyone with a uni pass, both staff and student. Not sure they would suddenly switch to a TfL service on a weekday even if it was more frequent. So it just seems like a waste of resources.

SL3 Thamesmead - Bromley North SL5 Bromley North - Croydon Town Centre both unchanged as present
SL7 Croydon Town Centre - Heathrow Central Revised to start at Croydon Town Centre, going via West Croydon and following the 407 towards Sutton Additional stops added between Teddington and Heathrow
SL9 Heathrow Central - Edgware Station As present to Harrow Bus Station, then via Kenton Station, Queensbury Circle and Camrose Avenue
SL11 Brent Cross Shopping Centre - Walthamstow Central via Hendon Central Station, Hendon (The Quadrant), Finchley (Gravel Hill), East Finchley, Muswell Hill Broadway, Hornsey, Turnpike Lane Station, West Green, Tottenham Bus Garage, Tottenham Hale Station and St James Street Station

I'd run it Harrow to Chingford and leave SL9 as is. Also possibly route via Harrow & Wealdstone Station rather than Kenton, and via Burnt Oak so it can serve Edgware Hospital and link it directly with Barnet Hospital. I'd also withdraw the 384 between Edgware and Quinta Drive and return it to its previous route around Barnet. I wouldn't do your SL2, the 179 pretty much has Chingford to Ilford sewn up already and I don't think there is enough demand for an express route on top. I won't comment on the others as I don't know the areas well enough.

I was just about to say that SL2 shouldn't need to go to Chingford as the 179 already does that with sufficient capacity already provided on the 179 and would rather have the route to Walthamstow Central as TfL chose to as to at least support the 123 to an extent which sees far more heavy loads than the 179 usually does at least before the introduction of the SL2 and to have better links to Walthamstow Central.

Would open up many new cross-SW London links and support the 65 along the section where a Superloop route would be most useful, the southern section tends to be quite fast and skip stops anyway. However I would question the wisdom of subjecting any Superloop route to the traffic through Sheen, especially without bus priority and new 20mph limits, as that section is usually very blocked up. Having said that, there isn't any alternative with Richmond Park to the south and low bridges along any other route. Can't comment on the others though.

Unfortunately the SL15 wouldn’t work, the S-Circular between Barnes Common & Clifford Ave is very often packed with traffic, even during off-peak & weekends. One time it took me over an hour to get from Queens Ride to Richmond on a 33 & this happenened during off-peak times as well. The Kew Bridge traffic is also often bad, & is partially one of the factors that affects the 65’s reliability as well.

Where exactly would the tunnel/bridge be placed? I’d like to know that first before making changes to existing routes/creating new routes. Regardless I would probably extend 1 route from the south, 1 from the north & introduce an express route running between Bexleyheath & Romford. The tunnel if it did happen would have ended up between Picardy Manorway and Marsh Way. Ok I see, I don’t believe changes need to made to existing routes & I think 1 express route through the tunnel/bridge should be sufficient. Here is my proposed route A11: Would run between Bexleyheath & Romford via: 229 to Erith, Bronze Age Way, Picardy Manorway, the tunnel/bridge to Marsh Way, 365 to Elm Park & 252 to Romford. Would serve the following stops: Bexleyheath Clock Tower Barnehurst Station Erith Town Centre Dunedin Road (Route would run non stop between Erith & the Orchard Village area) Elm Park Station (would run directly there on South End Road & Coronation Driver) Roneo Corner Romford Station Western Road Romford Market
