Beckton Bus Station is a nightmare. I have only seen Beckton on Sundays since the changes but on these occasions buses have had space. I know of course weekdays are probably different.

Beckton Bus Station is a nightmare. It's improved a bit now, the stands have been designated so you don't have routes sprawling around for stand space as much. The alighting point is now a permanent 366 stand, with the stand opposite the alighting point being the 376 stand. The single stand behind stop B (towards Gallions Reach) is a 104 stand, while the stand opposite stop B is a 104/101 stand. The stand opposite Stop C (towards Stratford) remains the dedicated 173 stand. This means the space allocation is 101-1 104-2 366-2/3 376-2 173-3 Although this does present a few issues: i.imgur.com/rr1MOjo.pngThe 366 stand in the picture above obviously doubling up as the alighting point makes it quite tight when 3 366s are on stand which happens quite frequently. Noticed that many routes alight at stop B now, especially 173s. The 101 only having a sole spot means that it's prone to standing at the stands of other routes, even in the picture posted above there's one standing on the 376 stand.

Do you happen to know how stand spaces are allocated? is it based on frequency? Not related to Beckton but can't work out why the 304 always has 2 buses on the stand every time I pass (Sometimes 3). Guessing some routes have generous stand times.

Not sure on the official way, but would imagine it comes down to the schedule TfL vaguely assume operators would propose and sometimes they set limits out on the route records. The 173 in 2011 only had two allowed to stand at Beckton and only one allowed to stand at King George's, although since Stagecoach schedule 3 at Beckton these days I assume that's changed. Operators probably also have a part to play, I know at places like Hainault Street which always overcrowds operators tend to all behave differently. I've noticed Go Ahead often hold 147s and 364s back at the Library stop but Stagecoach tend to just forcibly send buses into a crowded mess.

I have noticed a bit of clearing up in terms of the 104/173 as I now see the 3x 173s stand where they have done for ages now with 2/3 104s on stand on the stand in front.

Brent Cross is one that is too full. It regularly has Bus Station Controllers checking on buses there from early running etc due to stand space. At times this has buses circling or even trying to serve first stops can be a nightmare due to queuing and dwell time. The new bus station still has not been built which was part of the shopping centre redevelopment plans.

It's so chaotic waiting there because you have no idea if a bus pulling out is in service or if it's going to wait for the bus ahead to move or if it's just going to open its doors randomly in the middle of the road. If there's space at Tesco the 324 could swap with a more frequent route just to try empty the bus station a bit but I'm not local so not sure

However when Brent Cross West Station opens later this year, we might see some services diverted there instead to create space

One thats too full and also I feel absolutely horrible to get in and out of is Euston Bus Station especially as its only used for bus routes heading eastbound, and the 59/68 south and 253 north.
The awkward claustrophobic high rise-pillars out of every bus stop make it easy for jams and not enough space to exit and then the super slow traffic lights on Grafton Way. Also to that, the 18/59 stand always overflowed aswell so they stand on the 68 stand and fill the lane from the turn at the end of the bus station making it hard for other buses to enter.
Personally, a speculating suggestion but the 18's alighting point on Euston Road be converted into a Euston Station bus stop just for the 30, 73, 205, N73 and N205 heading towards King's Cross and the alighting point for the 18 and the stops in Euston Bus Station to be removed.
68 to stand in the current 59 stand as it has the least amount of buses standing at a time
18 to stand at the current 68 stand and return to its existing stand arrangements now that roadworks are finished where it stops at Euston with the N5/N20/N253 heading to to the bus station from Grafton Way not Euston Road.
59 stand at the current 18 stand (until it eventually gets removed so extra space to move the 68 here when it happens)
91 to run through Euston Bus Station and not stop due to a banned right turn
