Haven't seen it recently but if you'd asked me four years ago, I would have flat out agreed with you. It used to frequently take double decks and was temporarily decked during the first lockdown (with MMC TEHs) but it can no longer take double decks due to resident complaints along Madeley Road in Ealing (it was rerouted along here in 2020).

Wonder if it would be better to use the old routing so it can obtain DDs. Tfl have removed buses from residential roads before so I don't see it a problem. Also correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the residents complain about having a bus on their street?

I don't know if it's a regular occurrence but when I did the 112 via it's new routing, Madeley Road was full of traffic and there were no works going on either there or on the North Circular. I was never in favour of that change, made little sense for me

I think another reason for the rerouting was to reduce journey times by avoiding congestion on Uxbridge Road.

The traffic build up even before the Uxbridge Road junction (roughly around Gunnersbury Lane where the lanes gradually come down from 3 to 1 and then 3 again) is terrible going up to Hanger Lane where that stretch is mostly single lane northbound.

There is a bus lane on Uxbridge Road towards Hanger Lane though which is the direction the congestion is in? Granted once on the A406, the congestion there is horrible but it doesn't seem to be that much quicker and the ability to interchange to & from the 207 is made more time consuming as a result Does it pick up many passengers along Madeley Road? I think another reason for the rerouting was to reduce journey times by avoiding congestion on Uxbridge Road. That would have been it. Agree that the traffic there is horrible but Madeley Road seems to be no better and has a very short for vehicles to pass through the lights with the A406 so I was wondering how often Madeley Road snarls up?

I have a mate who lives on Madeley Road, his local observations are that passengers don't use the 112 as they've survived without it for so long. Yes punters would hop on if a bus is there, but there's little point in waiting 12 mins for the 112 when you can walk to the end of Madeley Road in 10 minutes from Ealing Broadwway Station. TfL just railroaded this reroute, most likely to cut on running times as you say. One thing's for sure, people living in those townhouses on Madeley Road with German SUVs (plural) outside their property were not in dying need of a bus service.

It’s a shame as the 112 is a route that would benefit from DDs as it’s a prime route for longer journeys. It’s irritating that the 232 has a similar snag as well.

I heard that it’s also because of trees along Madeley Road as well as the residents that prevent dds on the 112.

I'd send the 112 back on it's old routing and deck it. I don't see why Madeley Road needs a bus route it's very near the train station.
Another route that could be decked is the 232 and I would withdraw from St Raphael's and have it terminate at Brent Park Tesco. I'd then extend the 316 to St Raphael's, the 32 to Paddington and withdraw the 16.

The Brent Park to Kilburn needs the dds as it gets very busy and you can’t dd the 316. So I would leave the 316 were they are and not withdraw the 16. The whole reason why the 316 was withdrawn between Brent Park Tesco’s and Cricklewood Bus garage and the 332 was created was because the section between Brent Park and Kilburn needed double deckers which the 332 could provide and 316 could not. Pick another route to replace the 232.
