Something I've noticed this week is that you can't comment on the match articles after the game, like you normally can. You also can't like or dislike a post that the BBC wrote on their commentary of the games. Clearly the BBC don't want us to express our own opinions either, regardless of whether it is related to Gary Lineker's tweets.

I thought tonight's MOTD was great, fast flowing programme with action all the way and no monotonous commentary or cringeworthy comments from pundits telling us what we already know.
Looks like Crystal Palace are getting dragged into the relegation mire, three games in a row without a shot on target, looks like any three from the bottom nine to go down.

Think you are in the minority there. Not a football fan but happened to see a the start of the show and it just seemed plain weird and flat! The majority online thought it didn’t work.

I have a feeling that Antonio Conte will get the sack at the end of the season. There's no point sacking him now, they won't win the league and they aren't in any other cups, so sacking him now makes no difference. I don't see this season as a success even if they do finish top 4. Every season is the same. I don't really see Spurs improving next season either. The likes of Liverpool and United will probably be pushing for the title next season, along City and Arsenal

Whilst Gary Lineker is entitled to his opinions he shouldn't be using his position at the BBC as a platform to voice them. If he leaves the BBC he can say whatever he wants but it seems that he wants to have his cake and eat it too and if Shearer, Wright and Co want to down tools in protest then let them, do we really need these overpaid pundits telling us the obvious? Was alright for Andrew Neil, a former Political commentator and involved with The Spectator magazine who spoke on Twitter, Jeremy Clarkson who had a column in at least one paper and a regular on Twitter as well as the guys in charge of the BBC who have both been involved financially with the Conservatives or particular Tory prime ministers. Gary Lineker made his comment on Twitter which he doesn’t get paid for - he is only being made an example because he is paid the most at the BBC and because unlike the people I’ve previously listed, isn’t right wing or right leaning. Trouble is it is a different case. Lineker and a few others have been under the spotlight for years now, in part mainly due to their salaries. I feel he has come under fire, mainly due to social media police experts that moan and take everything to the next level. These are things that have bought down many over stars over the years. At times they may not have done a social media post, but something on TV i.e. Jonathon Ross, Clarkson etc. Then you get the usual people see it goes viral, never watched it at the time, but then complains. This is what happened with Lineker for him to be hounded. He is entitled to say what he wants, but I feel the comment was stupid as it makes no sense and a lot of those being pushed to come to the UK are forced into doing it by gangs and ultimately some may still fall victim to them when they reach here and in effect it is modern day slavery that is earning some people a lot of money.

Agreed, I've just watched it this morning and I thought it's a much better format. I don't normally watch MOTD nowadays as it's all available online.

Yes the world has moved on since the halcyon days of MOTD. This afternoons Women's Super League game on BBC2 is going ahead without commentary which allows viewers to get more of the atmosphere and I think the BBC should continue in that mode and see how many people really want commentary and pundits. And surely this is goal of the weekend? Not Messi or Ronaldo but Alfie May of Cheltenham Town..... youtube.com/shorts/IWlBlmzq2Hs?feature=share

Did you expect anything less? Lots will have watched out of curiosity to see how it would be presented. I included myself in this as I have zero interest in football. The BBC will not continue the show in the format it was shown last night.
