Normality seems to be returning in football reporting after a very strange weekend. Now on the BBC's football page there is a live commentary reflecting on yesterday's games. It marks a clear change from yesterday where the BBC didn't even have any news about yesterday's matches until 12.30. Also according to Sky news, Gary Lineker's set to end his dispute with the BBC with a return to MOTD soon

I just caught up on the champions league match and I literally laughed when Real Madrid really played YNWA. Anyone that thinks that is respect doesn't understand the act of trolling. 😂😂

That for me looks like they were borderline mocking them in a subtle way

Whilst I don't think that Palace will get relegated, their form has been really bad since the start of the year. I think they should stick with Viera until the rest of the season, but possibly sack him then. They're in the relegation battle but not near the bottom so I see no point in sacking him now. Mind you Ole Gunnar Solsjaker was appointed at Man Utd because he was a club legend, but he didn't do very well!

They’re a bottom half team who rely on Zaha, Eze & Olise to do something and have poor strikers - maybe Palace should back him with more money to try and match the Brighton, Fulham & Brentford’s of this world - people are far too obsessed with sacking managers these days

They're only three points outside of the relegation zone now although there are a few other teams below them.

There was a risk of Palace going down though. Sometimes managers aren't given enough time like Nuno at Spurs last season. But this decision may be pivotal in their survival although I think he should have seen the rest of the season before a decision was made. Sometimes it's not the managers fault, like in the case of Ranieri being sacked from Leicester in 2016/17 and when he did, the players started 'playing' and form suddenly improved. But then are the players good enough to survive? Sacking the manager isn't always the best decision especially mod season but Palace are now in the mix of 9 teams that could get relegated. If they continue this form then they will get relegated

Players do often improve, the new manager bounce, and whether that happens here remains to be seen, they've got Arsenal at the weekend. Claudio Ranieri who you mentioned was a case in point, lovely guy who did a fantastic job winning the title with Leicester City but couldn't maintain it the following season and a difficult decision had to be made and as you say there was an almost immediate improvement.

Boy oh boy. I don't know how I feel about Arsenal being knocked out of the Europa League and how Palace has sacked Vieira.
I'm just hoping the new manager bounce does not come on Sunday against us. We all remembered the last time this happened. With Tomiyasu and Saliba possibly out for a while this is where it gets a bit tricky.
Realistically now we have to win the league otherwise it will be deemed as a failure. To be out of all the other cups early with City still in some of those competitions is not good enough if we fail to get the league this season.
As for Arteta he really needs to start prepping himself for rotating players because if he's struggling now when he was in the Europa League then God knows how he will cope when it comes to the Champions League because there will be even tougher teams there.
