Again everything I've been saying and will CONTINUE to say will go over YOUR head. So I will say it again for those that didn't hear at the back. Everything Susan Hall has said right now is lip service. In the event that she somehow defeats Khan in the election. She may reverse it TEMPORARILY. Now this is where you need to pay attention. Do you really think if she did that, it would stay like that permanently? Sure it may appease some people before she SNEAKILY brings it back to where it is now. So at this point assuming you may vote for her, you'll probably start acting shocked and be surprised that she made a move like that as you thought it (ULEZ) would be reversed permanently. The high ups have their agenda for the clean air, they may halt it temporarily but the bottom line is it will be permanently for these charges. So you can either go out into the streets and form a group (hopefully a strong group) to dethrone this idea or simply understand it will continue. That is an opinion. Opinions can be WRONG. Guess what, we all can use all CAPPED words when we want to be annoying! And I will CONTINUE to do this. If you don't like me doing that you can scroll on by and keeping it moving. Responding back to me is NOT going to make me change my style of writing to emphasise a point. But what I've been saying has been laid bare. Even in 2021 when I said I wouldn't surprised if they extended it to all boroughs (initially I said within the m25 but I had scaled it back to all boroughs later on that year) in which you said he couldn't do that due some areas within the M25 not being under London control. (Pssht check page 2 yeah when you have a chance) 😎

That’s absolutely true about opinions can be wrong but doesn’t this also extend to people who are confusing promises with facts when saying that Hall will do this and it’s crystal clear, etc. Right now, all we know is Susan Hall has promised she will reverse it and that a politicians promise, regardless of what party they represent, isn’t worth the paper it’s written on as we all know from experience. For me, MKAY315 scepticism is entirely warranted IMO

I said it was too good an opportunity to pass over

Ahh, another political gambit that incumbents execute after gaining office. Let's look at some previous examples: Boris Johnson campaigned to replace bendy buses if he won. He did in 2008 and whilst phasing out 18m artics until December 2011, the conventional deckers needed to replace capacity saw around a 50% increase in PVR of those routes. For the Red Arrow routes their PVRs doubled. It was a costly project but he said he'd do it whilst campaigning so he committed. Sadiq Khan originally wanted to scrap all LTs if he was voted as Mayor in 2016. He was, but someone at TfL probably foresaw the unnecessarily expensive vanity project and got him to reconsider. It's either that and/or TfL's forecasts after his fares freeze promise he also got elected on. We all know what promise out of the two he kept. Back to this tidbit by Susan Hall. As I said a month ago today when the scheme went live, you can't rebox Pandora. It will be incredibly expensive to remove infrastructure and make it obsolete; a pause on ULEZ expansion at best, not a complete removal. You just turn it off, why would it be expensive. Probably cost less than fixing the 'broken' cameras. Projected to make a loss by 2026, so extremely prudent in the long run. How many millions did the cameras cost altogether? How much did the replacements cost? How much of a penalty would there be to terminate maintenance contracts early? How much did the IT systems that scans cars & issues fines cost? When you add all those sunk costs up, costs that were supposed to be absorbed over years instead of months; would the cost incurred to cancel the ULEZ expansion even be worth it? Pandora is out of the box, it'd be very difficult to get it back in again.

Your bias is showing. If Hall gets in, she WILL cancel the ULEZ expansion on day 1. Exactly, it's been made crystal clear what will happen if Susan Hall is elected. No long winded consultations or anything else, the ULEZ expansion will be scrapped immediately. *sighs*

Pandora is out of the box, it'd be very difficult to get it back in again. That would be a waste by the implementing team. Install a not fit for purpose system. Any sunk costs are at TfLs and the current Mayor's feet. It is due to make a loss from 2026. Might as well rip it out now and put us on a firm finical footing going forward. It's cost money, but will cost us more in future. Let's cut our losses and run. The money we have lost will be down to the incompetence of the current regime, because they did not listen to the public. If Hall is to get in, it will be a very sad reflection on the Sadiq Mayorship, in a time when the Tories seem incapable of winning anything. If Hall gets in, Labour will seriously have to reflect on what a mistake they made making Sadig their candidate, which will then make Starmer's leadership look weak. I know Labour supporters that won't vote for Sadiq. For me anyone other than Sadiq! And to be honest, I don't care who. One person created this Pandora's box, one person will be responsible for the chaos it causes. Will it be worth it? Resoundingly Yes!!

Even if Susan Hall isn't elected I wonder what the long term future of the ULEZ expansion is, how much longer can cameras be replaced and vans be repaired? What is the point of putting camera vans at various locations if simply putting a bag over the camera renders them useless?

With the tube strikes next week severely reducing public transport options available for Londoners - a situation of TfL's making, will Khan suspend ULEZ for those few days or will he choose to profiteer off the back of people struggling to get into work?

I don't think he will. In reality I think the effect tube strikes once had have considerably worn off. I straggled in the last tube strike and managed to get a 205 after getting off at Fenchurch Street with ease when previously I'd have to wait for swathes of buses to go past. It's also probably why there's not been much interest in getting these strikes called off, usually there is some level of public pressure to get these disputes resolved, but the public pressure has considerably reduced. I've lost track of how long these strikes have lasted now, it must be coming closer to a year now with this whole strike fiasco. Surely we must be getting to a point that the Unions are running out of money to pay staff who are not striking.

No need. Most car owners don't pay ULEZ charges anyway. There's more of a case for suspending the Central London Congestion Charge if you want to make a real difference.

Most people who can will work from home. I went in the last couple of times (drove to work) and while the journey to office (post school run) was ok, journey back took 1hr 45 min so not going to bother this time around It is the people on minimum wage / low paying jobs who get hit the most. I was speaking to someone at the coffee shop (in Knightsbridge) who comes all the way from barking; it’s a long tube journey usually. Without tube it gets converted into a franctic run to ilford - Elizabeth line - walk from Bond Street

They have never suspended the congestion charge on a tube strike day and it would be pointless and would defeat the object of the term congestion.

This is another thing people need to understand. When the high ups say they don't have money. What they really mean is they don't have money for YOU!!! They have money to do things but it won't benefit them so they won't spend it freely without some sort of incentive given back to them. The famous saying buy low to sell high comes to mind. The reason I say it won't get reversed is because it would cost more money to undo everything they've done. IIRC did Boris not cancel the proposed western extension of the "ken"gestion charge. Apparently this was said to have increased his votes to make him win.
