As I've suggested before, I think Sunday frequencies needed to be reviewed across the board. Many routes need major improvements to their frequency on Sundays, and it shouldn't be too difficult or expensive as it obviously won't require any PVR increases.

I think the 53 to st Thomas would be a very logical extension, it’s literally round the corner. No other stand space. From memory there is a fair bit of stand space on Lambeth palace road just before the roundabout leading to Lambeth bridge

From memory there is a fair bit of stand space on Lambeth palace road just before the roundabout leading to Lambeth bridge It's only intended for emergency use, when Parliament Square is closed, as buses standing there block the bus lane. I think it would be easier to extend the 53 back to Whitehall again rather than Lambeth Bridge.

Larger buses at higher frequencies. A departure from Sidcup at lunchtime today saw people standing up to the front windows. In its previous Metrobus incarnation, it fairly regularly used double decks. When the current Metrobus incarnation started, I mentioned on this forum that double decks might be desirable again, and was told by another forum member (can’t recall who, but it wasn’t a regular here) to not be so stupid and that surely I knew that the trees around the Northview estate in Swanley precluded the use of such buses 🙄

From my random observations overcrowding seems to be worse on Sunday's, perhaps the lack of other routes in Swanley on Sunday's is a factor and it's even worse if there are engineering works on the railway.

Alas it lies beyond that great invisible boundary. North view estate should really be served by a more regular local service ( ain’t ever going to happen )

The 233 is often packed on Sundays between Sidcup and Swanley, a half hourly service is inadequate. Where is the main issue that restricts bigger buses on the 233? I'm guessing it's the North View Estate but it could be the back street section by Sidcup Station.

Longlands Road I think, although rail replacement double deckers go along there but obviously that's only occasionally rather than every day.

I saw a light running 160 on Longlands Road the other day - again, occasionally rather than all day though

I think it would be easier to extend the 53 back to Whitehall again rather than Lambeth Bridge. Sightseeing buses stand in the bus lane along Lambeth Palace Road so it shouldn't make much difference. A bigger problem is that TfL is removing the roundabouts either side of Lambeth Bridge for another idiotic cycling scheme.
