And where would space be made to accommodate this extension? Would likely have to demolish quite a significant part of the borough to make space. It would be impossible. The only solution to link Thamesmead and Abbey Wood with Bexleyheath by rail would be if TFL bothered with trams. But they obviously have no interest in putting the money into it, so the new 301 bus is the best we’ll get. Street running for trams requires wider/alternative roads. To be successful they require an old rail route or new alignments. Not likely for Bexleyheath.

There should really be an express route starting from Thamesmead. Many have suggested the return of the X53, but I think it would be better for that to start at QE Hospital and maybe end in the Westminster area (if not Trafalgar Square) instead. Here's another idea: the X188 running from Thamesmead to King's Cross, first stop Plumstead. For more information, I'll put a link to something I posted in the express routes section.
Have a look and see what you think about the route. - someone

There was talk of having monorails along the West End a few years ago when Livingstone or Johnson were mayor. I am low key a supporter of Monorails in London , but I know they’re impractical

As I said earlier in the thread Thamesmead to Bexleyheath was served by one bus that run every half hour, there was no evening or Sunday service that bus route being the 486 operated by London Country. Today the service is much much better, with the 229, 301, 401 & B11. Not sure a tram would be better and wouldn’t offer value for money.

Elizabeth Line to be closed for just 6 years whilst construction of the route begins

They’ve said there won’t be another bailout which meets their policy of levelling down London to appease those brainwashed who live in the north

They’ll probably tweak a few existing routes, or restructure them completely into a tube feeder route or something. If ever they make the stand at Charlton Riverside they should extend the 202 & 301 routes there, the 202 will connect those at Blackheath and to the southern end of the Greenwich borough to the Charlton Shops and the 301 will give Charlton passengers an additional connection to CrossRail at Woolwich

People in parts of Eltham and Mottingham can reach the Charlton retail strip on the 161. That's not to say extending the 202 to the retail parks and the planned Herringham Quarter development a little further along (where the 301 would terminate) isn't a good idea, though.

So opens London’s newest railway and it’ll be serving nearby Abbey Wood.
Spoken to quite a few colleagues who live around Abbey Wood and Woolwich and they’re really looking forward to the new line!
I really think that Crossrail will be a game changer around that part of SE London, I don’t think people have anticipate the potential shift from the Jubilee line to Crossrail, also from SE and Thameslink (the latter being redundant on arrival)
I’m planning on riding the new line next week.

Thameslink most certainly isn't redundant, a full service has now resumed and it will continue to provide a useful service. If there is any reduction as a result of Crossrail opening it should be on Southeastern to Cannon Street.
