Right on cue... Ironic coming from someone who lost their Freedom Pass and claimed it was stolen and doesn't even know how much the TfL bus fare is. I think she's quite right to point out that there is no commitment on the Bakerloo Line extension here just a cheapskate alternative.

How else are they meant to win votes if they don't say what they'll do after they're elected? All I am saying is if there is a genuine need for the route why is it not being proceeded with in the normal manner? The Superloop routes were a ULEZ distraction and poorly executed in some cases but were not offered only as a term of voting for the Mayor. Because you're not allowed to make a policy announcement during Purdah. You can only make pledges. If Khan is reelected I'm sure it'll go to consultation and then proceed through the normal way.

As I said on the Superloop thread, I hope this will be refined through consultation. An express along OKR was mentioned in the Bus Action Plan so this is not out of the blue.
My concern with it is that the appeal of a Bakerloo extension is a direct link into the West End. Being turfed off at the Elephant is not attractive: a through ticket onto the Bakerloo might help. If I was going, for example New Cross Gate to Burgess Park, I don't think I'd hang around for this.
Interesting to see where it will stand at the Elephant given the limitations.

Not a bad idea per say, more so along the Elephant and Castle + Old Kent Road Corridor, which can be quite rammed at times bus wise, without thinking of an Bakerloo Line extension. Not my area, only concern what will give in the long run, as well as running in a new 20MPH zone in Old Kent Road.
As this is election period, it would have been nice to see some alternative ideas on express bus routes from opposition parties. Instead of negative campaigns and bad point scoring, esp from Susan Hall. Again nice idea but seems hot and miss from some people?

I don't want to speculate further of course but the 45/118 could still come into play even if the 45 is just cut back to Camberwell Green. Especially also when it says paid for out of the current budget.

If they want express bus routes, councils should adhere to national standards.

I’ll be the “usual” suspect with my reply. It does make me laugh how it has taken ULEZ expanding and an upcoming election to suddenly find money to create these new routes. How many years did the network go without any new routes on this scale? Have TfL given up on new normal all stops routes now? As opposed to the usual suspects of Sadiq ass lickers. He might be terrible, "but I think his great"! 🐑

The new speed limit also impairs the usefulness of the bus lanes.

It should definitely go further than Elephant, and into the West End to avoid having to change. If you live in Lewisham or New Cross, why would you get a bus that ends at Elephant & Castle and then change onto the Bakerloo Line or another bus to get into the West End? By the time you’ve sat on the bus to the end of the line, got off, walked into the Underground Station, waited for a train and got on it you might as well just get a Southeastern train which takes like 15/20 minutes to Charing Cross. It would be much more appealing if it was a direct express bus to the likes of Charing Cross, Leicester Square, Oxford Street etc.

Just seen the tweet from Sadiq so basically he is saying London can only have the route if we vote for him? So basically bribing Londoners! Nothing about this route is about add to the network it’s all about him! The route doesn't run anywhere near Mitcham so no vote from me lol
