I think there was a suggestion to make the 174 a 24hr service, with the N86 being cut back to Romford (becoming a 24 hr service essentially). I could certainly see this being useful as Dagenham needs more night routes.

reason why i said what i said about routes like N21, N89, N279, N343 is cause the routes already good enough they dont have to go to central at night Is that not one of the main reasons of the night network to link outer areas with Central London at night? It’s clear you probably have little to no knowledge of the routes you want to change because they’re supposedly good enough. Withdrawing the N21 would also cut Avery Hill, Blackfen and Bexley off at night.

you guys want reason here is some. I understand why the N250 is like how it is so i do take that back reason why i said what i said about routes like N21, N89, N279, N343 is cause the routes already good enough they dont have to go to central at night the reason i said about the N415 was because streatham and tulse hill have no link in the night also the N59 would just be a nice idea and the 159 my point is it literally does the same route as the N109 just slightly shorter There is both an N109 & 159(N), which I imagine there is demand for both those routes to run alongside each other. Removing one isn’t viable.

Why is there always a petty fight on so many threads on this forum?

This page is about night routes that should be 24 hour and new night routes and poo like that heres some of my ideas N59: doing the old route all the way up to king's cross also finishing at clapham park N343: should be 24 hour N89: withdrawn between trafalgar square and lewisham since the route is useless and its just mimcing routes like the N53 and the 36 and the N136 N250: wouldn't change much but could be 24 hour N21: should be 24 hour N279: should be 24 hour N415: extension from tulse hill to Streatham 159 24 hour service: copys the N109 so should be axed or it could be called the N159 and go to marble arch like the old route There is no need for a N59 or a N415 at all. You can't have the 159 as a 24 hour service if your then running it over the N109 as then you seem to be suggesting the 159 should be Oxford Circus to Croydon 24 hours which is completely unworkable. The N250 is not 24 hours anymore because the day route was cut back to West Croydon. Can you please stop using the word useless when it has no bearing on bus routes at all - look up the definition of useless. Couldn’t agree more!!!

For example N89 is a night service that runs alongside the day route 89 but is extended to Trafalgar Square to the outskirts of London e.g. Bexleyheath and Erith. There are limited train services at night so people are obviously going to use night buses - furthermore night routes are meant to "mimic" or "copy" other routes, so that particular area has enough bus coverage at night as possible.

You won't even see that in the 30's The 21 actually did use to run between Wood Green & Sidcup (sometimes onto Foots Cray & Swanley) back then, though obviously these sections have been replaced by the 141 & 321.

Holloway to Bexleyheath is a monstrous route to run. You won't even see that in the 30's your not wrong but night routes are mysterious They're pretty much extensions of their day counterparts apart from the few that don't. And even then they follow a part of a day route

I could certainly see this being useful as Dagenham needs more night routes. Dagenham is a night route wasteland. There are plenty of options on how to improve connections. The 174 is an option to bring into a full night service, but part of me feels like the 173 could also work. King George Hospital doesn’t have a 24 hour route, so perhaps the 173 could be an option. Hornchurch and Upminster could also benefit from a night route, such as a re-routed N86 or a brand new N66. Rainham also has some options. A 24 hour 165 (if the 365 is no longer 24hr) or 287 might be a bit much, so maybe an N238 following the 287 would work, or an N552 as a branch of the N15.
