I personally find it very odd that a City is still ordering Diesels. If it were a rural county then that would be more appealing to me. Wish TFL still ordered a mixture rather than full solid EV. Just because London garages couldn't maintain Streetdecks doesn't make the Ultroliner a bad bus. I've ridden on several recently purchased by Sanders Services in Norfolk. Fast runs at 50mph in and out of Norwich. Excellent performance and diesel needed because of the distances involved. Sorry yunus but diesel fuel will not be available in a matter of years. While Sanders does have Gemini 3 bodied buses those ones are on Volvo B5TL chassis and some of the last B5TL's to be built excluding the ones at Lothian.

Sorry to say but the 71-reg Sanders Wrightbus deckers aren’t god awful StreetDeck/Ultroliners. They’re Volvo B5TLs Gemini 3’s which is why the buses are half decent and have good performance, as shown by this screenshot from BLOTW. Even if the bodywork is still naff. The StreetDeck on the other hand is in my opinion the worst double decker ever made by a country mile, and the engines in them are everything those B5TL aren’t. Completely gutless unreliable junk And I’m also pretty certain diesel won’t be phased out anywhere as quickly as everyone is anticipating, both cars and buses alike. There are still far too many diesel buses being ordered as proved by smaller and larger independents by Sanders who clearly have no interest in going electric EDIT: just read in a post these are some of the last B5TLs to be produced. Presumably they’re going out of production and will only make the BZL?

If Diesel will not be available then how will the buses that require the fuel be pumped? Diesel will absolutely be available in the long term. As long as different types of diesels are being manufactured for the marine industry and aviation along with a whole host of other industries then they’ll still make it for cars and vans.

Modern diesels (/smart hybrids) in TfL use are usually Voith Enviro200/400 MMCs, they have little to no character compared to the older vehicles pre-Euro 6 Care to elaborate when you say little to no character? I actually love the Diesel MMCs. Would go for them anyway over a E400H personally. They lack character because they are incredibly dull vehicles to ride on so in my eyes, it’s no different to riding electrics or most hybrids. I’d take a Euro VI Enviro 400H over pretty much any diesel MMC.

If I am correct would you prefer a old bodied E400H to a Diesel MMC or even a G2 B5LH? Just interested to see others preferences.

Apparently Metroline Bee getting new buses saw photos FB page six buses Metroline bees parked up along with Arriva London ESs 12 quays Birkenhead port. Dunno how many was placed order 140-odd new diesel Streetdeck Ultroliners. Coded WSD. Does that mean they won't be having any ex london buses now?

Interestingly some of Metroline’s 14-reg hybrids that were earmarked for Manchester went back into London service again after a small hiatus being withdrawn. They’ll probably transfer quite a few up later though, maybe not too many just yet as the incoming electrics will need to displace them, and we all know how slow Metrolineare at introducing new buses into service! (Looking at you x8 1.5 year old Electroliners and the year-old WJ BZLs!!) Love your Airbus Beluga picture by the way, wish I could have gone to Heathrow to see that

Do miss the Omnicitys at PD, RM & WH for sure. Personally I absolutely loved the scenes in Romford around 2010 ish, when I was young. VNWs, TNL’s, TNAs, DNs all around the Dagenham routes (165, 193, 252, 365, 498 + Remember riding some Tridents on the 179 & 368 at some point) Also adding on the Stagecoach ALX400s ofc, boy it was amazing back then with them roaring engines 😍😍 Ofc some things change though, when my all time favourite operator First pulled out of London that was the first big downgrade in my local area… then we know what happened all the years after that lol

Love your Airbus Beluga picture by the way, wish I could have gone to Heathrow to see that Not sure how true but I heard that majority of smaller operators outside of London would not want Hybrid or EV buses due to cost and maintenence. Where I live in Surrey now is 100% Diesel MMC but on the nearby Whitebus routes you could be blessed to have a ride on a Volvo B8.
