Is the 281 crosslinked with the 681? And are VHs allocated to the 281? The two VHs from the 681 on the PM trip turn into 281s once they reach Hounslow Bus Station.

So I’ve just learned something the last SL9 bus from Harrow to Heathrow is at 22:50 I always thought it had later journeys than that. It just seems strange in my opinion.

Cut off time for last departing flight is 22:30, not much point paying for a service to airport which has no more flight for the day

Remember there are also staff as well when they start or end their shifts.

Just because the last flight has arrived / left it doesn’t mean that there is no demand for a bus service and, of course, the X140/N140 isn’t just for the benefit of airport staff/passengers.

Never realised this until now but makes sense for a continuity of direct service to Heathrow from Harrow. Something that iirc White City to Uxbridge passengers didn't have pre-SL8 having its service hours extended: I think there was a gap between the N207 starting service and the last SL8 departing with passengers in the meantime needing to do the 207+427 combination.

I believe N140 does indeed have the earliest start of any night bus, although I haven't checked every timetable. The previous "winner" was the N551 with a 2310 start from Gallions Reach at weekends, followed by the N91 with a 2312 start from Cockfosters on Sunday nights.

Seems that every year RATP has industrial relations issues. One wonders what’s wrong in the RATP hierarchy that this happens with monotonous regularity.
