I was just thinking the other day, what routes would be the easiest to route learn owing to there being almost no turnings to remember? And which would take more than a day? The 18 has zero turnings en route and the 207 has very few. Both have a roundabout at one end. What others are there with few/no turns? For the latter, the G1, H28 and S4 spring to mind. The C11 is also a route where you can lose orientation quite easily as it goes NE/NW/SE/SW in one single trip . www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/

I was just thinking the other day, what routes would be the easiest to route learn owing to there being almost no turnings to remember? And which would take more than a day? The 207 would be an obvious contender for the former, at one end it doesn't even have to leave Uxbridge Road to turn around. The 18 has even less turnings. What others are there? For the latter, the G1, H28 and S4 spring to mind. The C11 is also a route where you can lose orientation quite easily as it goes NE/NW/SE/SW in one single trip www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/Throw in the S3 as a difficult one. I only know it between Sutton Station & Sutton Common. The other parts I don't have a clue. I reckon I could do the S1 the entire way even though it uses a lot of back roads. Any route that passes through Brixton I reckon I could do in one day except the P5 with all those turnings after John Ruskin Street.

It took me four days to learn both the G1 and the P13. The P13 wasn't as bad. It just that I didn't know the areas around peckham. The G1 was troublesome as although I ws familar with south west london, I kept getting confused with the routing between tooting st georges hospital and clapham junction. The bit that still bothered me till the route went to go ahead was when turning from bolingbroke grove into another road where the hospital was. There no clue or landmark to show you where you needed to turn. I just remember looking out for a 'H' sign and then I had to do the 2nd turn. I used to take my time when approaching this part of the route.
The easiest routes I learned is the 155 and the 280 as both just go straight. Maybe the 280 is slightly easier as on the 155 you have the one way system in elephant as well as tooting hospital which is the same as the 280. The curtailment points on both routes are easy as well apart from clapham common on the 155 as you have to go through the one way system via old town

The P13 keeps changing. Ironically, I know all of the route except the section between East Dulwich Sainsburys and Peckham Rye station. Even worse as I live within that section of the route! The S3 does look very tricky indeed - must take a ride on that one day . Last time I went to Malden Manor was on a rail replacement bus to Chessington some years ago.

I think it's all perspective to how well you know the area. I have never actually route learned the 68 for example... it's very straightforward and I knew all the areas it went through. In Camberwell it was the P5 between Loughborough Junction & Elephant that took the longest to sink in but it is relatively simple once you know it and you almost turn when there is a dead end visible in front of you a lot of the time. I do not know most the G1 despite living close to the route for 16 years! Have ridden it occasionally but tend to lose attention it takes so long to get anywhere - think I could drive any other route that runs near Clapham Junction or Tooting, even the ones I haven't really route learnt. The other LG route (except NP) I don't know is the 424. I'd say those two are the hardest to learn, partly because they go to roads you would only pass through if you live there, not while commuting. I could just get in and drive any route except 2 from QB despite having never worked there. Those two are the 414 & 452 but a quick look at the map on TFL and a couple of notes would be enough as I know most of the roads they use (that's how I first did the 185!)

The 109 is just up and down the A23.
The 367 has lots of twists and turns between Croydon and Bromley

498 simple come out of sainsbury's straight down the high street straight down on to the A12 straight down after the big roundabout at gallows corner then a left onto mecurey gardens a right and then follow the one way system and turn right at the lights done.
T33 another quite simple one after you do it a few times from west Croydon take a right at the lights then a left and follow the X26 to east croydon the right serve the small bus ststion (The second bay) then its a left right then first right and straight on straight over the roundabout then take a right on the first roundabout then left on the second then another left at the end of the road then keep statight till you get to almost the bottom of the very big hill and take a left then follow the road take a right then a left then another left at the end of that road another left then follow the road take a right then another right a lovely left again and then follow the road till you get to the interchange

I think the 192, 318, 393, W4 can be tricky as they have lots of twists and turns

The E5 used to be a tricky route back in the day, but as Volvo&MCV said, defo the 318 due to the bad parking around Thackaray Avenue... just to help things they've dug up Rosebery Avenue / Shelbourne Rd junction again, that will be great for when the school run starts

Oh I think the 29, 259, 205, 279 are easy routes as they are mostly straight with minor turns

36 - only really snakes about in the Paddington and Harrow Road areas (not sure of that area name), otherwise it's more or less a long straight route from Edgeware Road Station to New Cross Gate.
93 - a route that hardly change through my 40 plus lifespan only really turns at Putney, Cheam and Tibbets Corner roundabout, otherwise u more or less follow the road.
133 - practically a straight line from Streatham to Monument where it then snakes around a bit into Liverpool Street.
337 - only really twists about at Clapham Junction and the Richmond gyratory, otherwise a straight route thru Wandsworth, Putney and Sheen.

370 would be pretty easy as would the 66 & 86 also what about the 287? Would the X80 count? Out of Lakeside, Join the M25, Over the bridge, 1st exit after the toll's, Along Crossway, Into Greenhithe Station and back out, Then into Bluewater. Simples!
