What about extending a Bus Route from Crystal Palace to Lower Sydenham e.g: 417,322, Via the 202 way because there is no links to places like Clapham to that area I like that idea. 417 to Lower Sydenham.

I sort of half liked that idea then decided to go a bit mental... 356 Withdrawn between Sydenham Hill and Perry Rise. Instead extended via Woolstone Road, Cranston Road, Brockley Rise, Honor Oak Park, Forest Hill Road, Peckham Rye, East Dulwich Road, Grove Vale and Dog Kennel Hill to East Dulwich, Sainsburys. 432 Withdrawn Crystal Palace to Anerley. Extended from Crystal Palace via Crystal Palace Parade, Westwood Hill, Sydenham Road and Bell Green to Lower Sydenham, Sainsburys. 450 Rerouted between Sydenham Hill and Lower Sydenham via Sydenham Hill, Wells Park Road and route 356. 432 would be better to pass Wells Park
450 to stay the same becuase it is actually used alot between Crystal Palace and Westwood Hill
356 withdrawn between Wells Park Road/Sydenham Hill Estate to Sydenham Hill
417 passing Westwood Hill

Moz The 356 should remain how it is as it is a handy link to Upper Sydenham and it is used by people. Does not need to be changed at all. The 450 is fine also. The 432 & 415 could be merged and the 417 extended to Lower Sydenham.

Because of Increasing demand at Sydenham and Lower Sydenham with new homes and a new retail park Finding some way to double-deck the 181 would probably be a start. The 181 does not need double deckers, would be a waste. Most buses on the 181 carry a fair load of passengers and at times no passengers. The busiest section of the 181 is Lewisham - Torridon Road, after that the 181 carries a fair amount of passengers. A Packed 181 in Lewisham will have cleared out a lot of passengers at Stops: Thornford Road & Theodore Road and mostly everyone sitting down by the time it Reaches Torridon Road.

People who use the 450 from Lower Sydenham mostly get off at Palace - very few go from one side of Palace to the other.

Yes but the point was if there's a supposed increase in demand around Lower Sydenham that would probably be a good start as it's the main link to Catford. Not required as the 202 also Serves Lower Sydenham, but not Sainsbury's which is good enough. The 202 is a better candidate than the 181, plus the the 181 cannot take double deckers. The 181 & 202 are both the main links to Catford from Lower Sydenham, not just the 181.

Yes it's the bit through Central London that looks a bit unnecessary to me. I wonder if there is merit in it running on from Vauxhall via Wandsworth Road or via Battersea to reach Wandsworth or Putney. Another option might be to run it to Roehampton via Putney Heath to give some relief to part of the 170. One other idea I had was to run the Lower Sydenham to Vauxhall bit to Wandsworth Rd Stn and tag it on to the 452. I would opt for much more modest frequencies say x12 peaks and x20 evenings / Sundays to begin with. That gives scope for some increases when patronage develops. It's very rare to run at high frequencies from day one. These frequencies would also represent a reduction on the 452 (if it was joined to the proposed route) which gives some financial saving to fund the new bit of route. I also would not run it 24 hours a day. If there was spare funding I'd be more minded to run a N185 from Trafalgar Square to Victoria then as per day 185. I expect that would be a popular service.
