The N87 drivers are always dashing around like they were supposed to be at their destination yesterday. I remember one night I was coming back from Wimbledon Park depot, got on and the bus stormed away. Approaching the humped roundabout at the junction of Granville road (where route 39 joins in), the driver failed to slow for it. Went speedily over it but upon landing the other side the bus took quite a bang which disabled the front doors opening from the button! Despite this carried on to Wansdworth Road Station where the bus stopped for a sub to take over....

If I may interject a little here with my experiences from driving some of these..... 61: Orpington - Chislehurst Really? We get so much time that we are usually crawling along here. Maybe if we're running late for some reason.... Orpington to Petts Wood you can have, but only at night. You're not having Market Square to Downham though. Between 7 and 11 minutes is way too much time most of the time. When the schools are out we still get ten minutes in rush hour to get between Downham and the Market Square and it's about 4 minutes too much! Again, you'll only get a fast ride here at night and when we're late and when the 320 has cleared the road! You can very much have this one. Lots of fun driving the 246 along here, especially since one rarely has to stop between Coney Hall and Biggin Hill! If one wants a fast ride, I recommend this one at night. Unless they've changed the running time, it's pretty tight - not that it needs to be since there's plenty of stand time at each end Regarding the 208 Paul, It very much depends if the 320 has nicked all the passengers. I've done the 208 during the day and it has get from Bromley - Catford in 10 Mins.

N87, never had so much speed out of a WVL I find the London ones not to bad but our 07 reg ones in Southampton are a joke no power and the sound of the engine is so dull I love the older ones

I always take the 261 or 320, depending on whether I'm in Lewisham or Catford. Sometimes even take the 336 because I enjoy the ride, even if it is a fair bit longer.

n11 and night times 295 put there foot down between Fulham Broadway and Hammersmith and some drivers don't slow for the speed bumps I almost went flying out the seat once and that's no joke One thing that really gets on my nerves is drivers who don't slow down for speed humps. One thing you're likely to get after travelling on a night 69 is whiplash as those drivers seem to think it's ok to do 30mph over humps . Maybe these Genius/telematics things are a good idea after all. Those drivers should know better too given they drive those routes full time! I used to have to floor the TAs on the late shift 211s along that road (Munster Road I think,) it's not that difficult to see/remember where the humps are!

I my self prefer fast drivers, the 111's, most drivers don't slow down for the speed humps in Hanworth, the SP's are rubbish on those speed humps, VA's used to be fine on those humps.

Truth be told, I drove along quite a lot of that route when I was driving the Clapham Junction - Surbiton via Kingston RRs and missed one of the humps on Haydons Road. The council should do something about it as the white triangles have virtually faded on some of them.

I like fast drivers, but only those who drive fast when the road conditions permit. If a road has lots of humps then they need to drive more appropriately. I always take humps at 15mph max, unless I've mistakenly failed to spot it which has happened a couple of times

Some of the brick humps in the Bermondsey area of the 381 are very steep. The ferry lift function in the Volvos is useful to avoid grounding the bus on them!

That place you mentioned (had to think where it was as I haven't been on the 81 recently ), the drivers used to bomb it down there before the humps were installed sometime last year. As a result one of the stops ends up being part on a hump! I find that in terms of double decks the Enviro 400 provides a good balanced ride over humps, not too firm but not too bouncy either. Some sections of routes I hate because of drivers not slowing down for humps: 105: The side roads between Southall and Greenford are filled with humps, and of course the VW's bounce you all over the place. 111: Around Hampton. 482/H32: Convent Way ;D (better on an ADE). E5: The Mini E200's are also really bouncy.
