One thing that really gets on my nerves is drivers who don't slow down for speed humps. One thing you're likely to get after travelling on a night 69 is whiplash as those drivers seem to think it's ok to do 30mph over humps . Maybe these Genius/telematics things are a good idea after all. Those drivers should know better too given they drive those routes full time! I used to have to floor the TAs on the late shift 211s along that road (Munster Road I think,) it's not that difficult to see/remember where the humps are! I my self prefer fast drivers, the 111's, most drivers don't slow down for the speed humps in Hanworth, the SP's are rubbish on those speed humps, VA's used to be fine on those humps. And they put 09-reg SPs on that route... 56, 08 and 59/10 reg ones are fine Still, we don't have the problems they have in rural Uganda... (if you've seen the Top Gear Africa special, you'll know what I mean)

The N87 drivers are always dashing around like they were supposed to be at their destination yesterday. I remember one night I was coming back from Wimbledon Park depot, got on and the bus stormed away. Approaching the humped roundabout at the junction of Granville road (where route 39 joins in), the driver failed to slow for it. Went speedily over it but upon landing the other side the bus took quite a bang which disabled the front doors opening from the button! Despite this carried on to Wansdworth Road Station where the bus stopped for a sub to take over.... I got on a N87 once from kingston to vauxhall as I was quite surprised at how fast the driver was going. One must wonder about the running times of the N87 as I find the bus unreliable. After finshing my shift at battersea (normally after 1am) I would depend on the N87 from wandsworth road, queenstown road junction and the bus was late most of the time. Most of the drivers would speed over the humps on lavender hill. During the olympics, there were a few times when I waited around 20 minutes for a N87. Luckly the trains at clapham junction to croydon were frequent so I didn't mind waiting but it was annoying as the bus is timetabled to run every 15 minutes (10 at weekends)

Still, we don't have the problems they have in rural Uganda... (if you've seen the Top Gear Africa special, you'll know what I mean) I saw the TG Africa special... Haringey's twinned with Uganda, which explains all the potholes in our roads ;D The 243 is good for thrash (Lordship Lane / Bruce Grove / Stoke Newington Common / Haggerston), and especially DLAs 233 and 243 DW451 and 462 are rapid too 258 is another good route for thrash, and the 142

Caught SP47 today. Wasn't bad actually, could be better with padded seating though! It was trashed on the Hampton Court Road.

Try the 133 or 159 between Streatham Station and Brixton before 7am, especially on a Sunday. Full bore take-offs and no mercy as you only get 12 minutes to do it in!

Even the fastest PDL class Trident could not get me to the end of the route on time. Mind you, as fast as those 03 reg Tridents were, their plug-in doors were ultra slow...which balanced the problem back on service punctuality.

Slow door are a pain in the ar*e! I recall having 9436 when I was chucked on the 343 and the rear doors took 8 seconds to close. Imagine I was trying to learn the route by following a Volvo, even one of those left me for dust
