There has been driver training on NBfLs at Stagecoach's Plumstead depot using a borrowed bus. Prehaps these would be used on the 96!

Will have to use other routes now, unless they fix the air conditioning

I'm suprised at how 390 is getting NB4Ls as it is not really a relevant route to it. Im thinking route 15 may get them, then the current Hybrids on it can go on to route 8. But I think route 188 should get it as it has connections with the O2 and Central London, then the current Hybrids on the route can make a part Hybrid allocation on route 35, then put some of 35's Enviro400s on route 172 to oust those 51-reg ALX400s. . The C3 would be a better choice to move the E400s to for the renewed contract, releasing those 52 reg ALX400s back off lease. As for the 172, they could use the Volvos redundant off the 188, though there would only be 9 buses spare then.

No Way, they're obviously trying the NB4L for route 53 as it is a Central London route.

Seems to be another oddity involving the 390, when it was drawn up in early 2003 it got the RM's rather than route 10 which everyone envisaged. The air conditioning on the NBfL's (think this is a chiller unit system?) seems to be functioning well now, the last few trips I have made on the NB they seemed to be working effectively.

That's possible but then there's the question of what to do with those ALX400s for the remainder of their lease. I believe there's extra costs if the buses are given back too early, assuming its on a five year lease.

No, it is better if 172 got the Hybrids instead then Abellio order 3 more as a top up for its PVR and a spare. C3 is meant to get new buses this October.
Also, I think route 25 is an NB4L candidate but I wonder if they'll get them because then there will 65 redundant B9TLs which could all head to AS to convert the whole garage to B9TL operation.
Also, I wonder if the NB4Ls will make a one-off appearance on route N9 so it can be promoted around the Heathrow Airport area.

The 6 has an issue somewhere along the route so I can't see that route being converted. The 137 has a tight turn out of Kings Avenue into Acre Lane which may scupper that route. I honestly can't & hope the 159 doesn't get them, prefer if it gets HV's.
Routes won't be converted based on if they have gold advert frames - those gold frames just signal premium advertising space. The 88 may not be converted as IIRC, the routeing between Parliament Square & Vauxhall Bridge goes down some narrow roads. The C2 may incur the same problem due to the narrow roads between Piccadilly & Oxford Circus - I rode the 8 many times along the section with just 10.5m Tridents and it was an issue then.

I think the contract was September 2011 (and the VLEs were 7 years old at renewal) Not sure what will happen to them, there are some TLAs they could replace, or older TAs, otherwise probably leave the fleet. The other possibility is that LU have been awarded a tender (not yet announced) eg 7 or E3 and could use them as an interim fleet The VLEs did look a tad needing moving from the 9 to be honest anyway, and also they could replace older TAs. I really hope they've won E3 and use these longer dds on it - it does need the capacity at times, and Metroline West/First couldn't run the service without a lot of bunching. Metroline West did so much better than First at E3, some thought it had a new timetable! Why do they need moving from the 9?
