An alternative to getting new electric buses is to extend the use of existing hybrids¹ and/or convert some existing buses to zero emission, now that there's at least one firm that specialises in such ventures. www.sustainable-bus.com/news/kleanbus-repowering-lucy-parkin/¹ - Go Ahead's MHVs that went to Manchester being such ideal examples had they not yet departed Converting the 220’s ADE’s to ADHs would be a smart idea. If desperation is arising, then RATP can cherry pick the best SPs and convert them from N23OUD’s to B5LH. That would be disgusting

Because converting a diesel vehicle into a hybrid vehicle has been proven unsuccessful with buses being withdrawn straight after. The Vantage Power hybrids did not suit the Plaxton Presidents at all. I prefer getting natural hybrids over diesel-hybrid conversion all day!!

The life of a bus in London is 15 years there about and probably no mroe the 20 outside London so arguably best just to leave them as diesel for the rest their natural life span.

Either diesel or zero emission are the only options now.

Could the E8 be extended to HH and the 237 cut to Hounslow bell corner, and converted to LTs? Would help with reliability

If RATP won it extending to WK would be good. Failing that yes I can’t see a problem with the E8. Between Hounslow and Brentford there are around 24 bph . Quite a lot really, but very well used.

Could the X26 be converted to LTs? Obviously the Gemini 2s were converted for the route however they won’t last another contract - possibly the 111s LTs unless RATP want to use them further at AV.

I doubt TFL would want to convert them to luggage racks, what would the solution be for the route when the Gemini 2s depart?

I’d suspect it would get new buses built to single door specification with luggage racks.

Most unlikely I would think, not really the sort of route for three doors and two staircases. I disagree. I think it would be useful as the rear door area and the bag area by the driver could convert to luggage racks (as dashing0ne previously suggested) and it would reduce dwell times as there would be two doors. When I last used the X26 it was at New Malden for like 3 minutes as a wheelchair user needed to board via the front door.
