Currently on a 333 towards Tooting Broadway 7 minute changeover at BN which is unacceptable in my opinion I had longer changeovers on numerous occasions in the past to the point where your better off boarding another bus instead.

Currently on a 333 towards Tooting Broadway 7 minute changeover at BN which is unacceptable in my opinion Presumably the bus arrived early at BN and the relieving driver was on time or perhaps slightly late? There are crew reliefs that are regularly dreadful. The bus I often get on a Sat to Ilford has a crew change at Tottenham and the bus can be up to 8 mins behind time leaving a 20 min gap in the service which gets worse because the bus has disproportionately more people trying to board. It gets a bit tiresome every single week seeing the same problem repeated. I assume the controllers aren't bothered because one gap on one run gets swallowed up in the stats and the bus is assumed to leave on time from Ilford thus requiring no more supervision.

Currently on a 333 towards Tooting Broadway 7 minute changeover at BN which is unacceptable in my opinion If you think this is bad, I've had a 58 that sat at Leyton Library for almost half an hour - and when the driver finally did turn up, he emerged from around the corner walking like he was in a park, still on his phone - I thought they were taking the pee And I've had many longer than 7mins, unfortunately BN actually hold the record for the fastest changeover for me - less than 30seconds lol

However the changeover took a ridiculous amount of time, when a 62 rocked up behind there was a mini-stampede of people making use of the hopper fare. I was actually surprised many people actually did it which is suggesting that these issues at the changeover location are actually a recurring problem.

Surely in 30 mins at least two other 58s overtook the bus? No way I'd have stayed on it unless it was the last bus of the night and even then I doubt it.

I had a very fast change at NX on the 21 not so long ago, in fact I was sitting upstairs and I didn't even realise there had been a driver change until I got off at and noticed it wasn't the same driver as when I'd got on.

Any good controller would ensure changeover buses don’t arrive too early so as they spend a lot of time awaiting the relief driver.

Yea, I also don't know why I did, I think I was doing something which made me not very keen to move; as for 58s overtaking, a strange thing is I can't recall any buses going around us 🤔 I do remember however that the very bus later got curtailed...

Does anyone know the Woolwich changeover for the 53 route? From the schedule it looks like Frances Street but that seems like an odd location. This changed after I moved away from the area. Is the location there to maximise driving time? The schedule has instances of someone getting off a vehicle, having a break at the garage, then picking up next time in Woolwich (and vice versa)....
EDIT: Apologies if anyone has seen this before, I recall I might have asked this question on another thread, but just asking again in a dedicated changeover point thread and from memory the original question was a little while ago....

I thought all driver changeovers were at PD? Live takeovers at Woolwich were introduced a while ago and from what my dad has said (he’s a 53 driver) the changeovers are on Wellington Street. Apparently though, there are plans to change the 53 duty cards so they only show a departure time and buses run totally to the headway shown on the MDT. I can’t see how that would mesh with a live takeover since it couldn’t be guaranteed what time the bus would reach the changeover point On a similar note, the 161 changeovers are due to take place at the same point when Stagecoach take over later this year
